Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6 Review- We Need A Horse

Thorfinn Einar evening Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6

This was a perfect Vinland Saga episode. Everything you could ask for in a series which has moved on from its action-packed days to head on towards an extremely sobering tale of two slaves who bought their freedom from their master was here. The concept of Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6 wasn’t all that good at face value, but the show made fantastic use of it to tell a compelling story with a little bit of everything. Some great drama, life lessons, a little comedy, and lots and lots of character development.

The first thing we need to pay attention to is the amount of time that has passed between the previous episode and this one. Thorfinn and Einar have noticeably aged and grown resilient with time, as they worked extremely hard on their future field. The show cut most of the boring bits out, so we didn’t have to sit through them chopping a hundred trees every day. However, their effort was still apparent through how much they had managed to get done and how close they were to their first crop. There was only one problem- they didn’t have a horse.

Snake grandpa Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6

Now, that might be a minor issue to most of us, for when have you ever needed a horse in your life? But for these two slaves, not having a horse meant an extra three years they would have to spend breaking their backs and toiling away to clear that land. Three years – that is a full degree, and they didn’t even have a choice to pick their majors. They were stuck with farming and woodcutting, with a minor in harvesting. Having a horse is literally a life-or-death situation for them, which puts in perspective how casually this episode takes this request of theirs.

The method of their obtaining that horse was also tremendous, as Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6 introduced one of the better characters we have seen in this season so far. The decrepit old gentleman who values working hard over anything else was a delight to watch, and it wasn’t even his first appearance on the show. His interactions with Snake were great and added a lot to both of their personalities and the direction the show intends for Snake’s character to go. The old man was the kind of character you’d hate to see go.

Above everything else, the passage of time was the biggest theme of Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6. There were multiple time lapses and montages to show us the work that went into everything that Thorfinn and Einar accomplished, and they also became close to each other while doing it. There was a strong emphasis on building future storylines and characters in this episode, which is no double going to make this funny horse episode a pivotal one to watch.

Verdict

Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6 was among the best episodes of this season so far and perfectly captured the vibe the series is currently going for. There’s no better option to enjoy Mondays with than a show that is about backbreaking labour.
