Varisu vs Thunivu: Fans of Vijay and Ajith Kumar Thrash Film Posters Outside Chennai Theatre

The box office clash between Varisu and Thunivu has resulted in a heated incident among the fans of the superstars, Vijay and Ajith Kumar. Notably, there are reports of posters being damaged and torn, outside a theatre in Chennai, as a result of the simultaneous release after eight years.

Both superstars have a history of simultaneous releases at the box office starting from the year 1996. Since then, they have continued to surpass each other in terms of net collection and records. And maintained a unique and unsaid competition. Even though there is no such rivalry between the two, there is a common trend of south superstars and their mutual releases (Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, MGR, Sivaji).

The last time Ajith Kumar and Vijay had a same-day release, happened in the year 2014 for Veeram and Jilla respectively. During which, the former collected more than Vijay’s release, at the box office. However, the fate of the mutual release this time is yet to be revealed.

So far, this has been the only incident of a possible clash between the fans. And no other damages have been reported yet. Plus, the mega-stardom of the actors always creates an intense environment at the box office and leads to tough competition in the net collection.

Vijay’s Varisu revolves around a story of a free-will optimistic man, whose entire life changes in a split second, after the demise of his foster parent. The film can be categorised as a commercial family entertainer and features a cast of Rashmika Mandanna, Shaam, Prabhu, and Vijay Rajendran. Furthermore, Vamshi Paidipally serves as the director of the film while Dil Raju and Sirish as the producers of the project.

The complete cast of the film includes Ajith Kumar, Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani and Pavani Reddy. Moreover, the flick is helmed by acclaimed director H Vinoth, and produced by Boney Kapoor (Mr India, Mili).
