Twinkling Watermelon Episode 11 Recap and Review: Heartwarming Father-Son Bond Strengthens in the Tale of Emotion and Connection

In Twinkling Watermelon Episode 11, Eun-gyeol tries his best to prevent a traumatic incident involving Yi-chan. From creating fake scenarios to physically stopping him from going anywhere, Eun-gyeol is determined to alter his future. The episode premiered on October 23, 2023, on tvN network.

The K-drama Twinkling Watermelon or Sparkling Watermelon (반짝이는 워터멜론) is directed by Son Jong-hyun and written by Jin Soo-Wan. Ryeoun, Choi Hyun-wook, Seol In-ah and Shin Eun-soo will be appearing in the lead roles for the show. The show is expected to have a total of 16 episodes with a runtime of approximately 60 minutes each.

A 15.6 billion won production and supply agreement for the show was signed by production companies Pan Entertainment and Studio Dragon on September 5, 2023. The show takes over tvN’s Monday & Tuesday 8:50 time slot previously occupied by My Lovely Liar.

Sparkling Watermelon episode 11 starts with Kang Hyun-yul getting into a fight with a few bullies on the road. It turns out that they are the same boys who beat up Yi-chan unconscious. Hyun-yul easily beats them and warms them to stay away from his group. However, it turns out that Yun-yul was part of a gang and the leader is after him because he thinks Hyun-yul backstabbed him.

The band has officially formed and everyone announces their new name. They get prepared for the festival and the entire school cheers them on. But Eun-gyeol finds out that a severe accident happens the day before the rehearsal which leads to a member’s severe injury. Eun-gyeol concludes that the accident happened to Yi-chan and so he tries every possible thing to stop him.

Moreover, everyone at school gets excited about Se-kyung’s decision. They start to ask whom is she going to choose. Cheong-ah also asks her about the decision and says that she should choose Eun-gyeol. She walks up to Eun-gyeol to talk to him and notices that he has very low spice tolerance which annoys her.

The day before the rehearsal, Eun-gyeol urges Yi-chan to not go there. But Yi-chan does not listen to him and says that he will go to the rehearsal. However, Eun-gyeol has no other option but to take help from Se-kyung. He asks her to bring him to a secluded location so that he is not able to go to the rehearsal. However, Se-kyung agrees to help in exchange for the reason why he wants Yi-chan away from the rehearsal and to go to watch movies the next day.

Yi-chan wakes up to a call from Se-kyung who asks her to travel to an island. But when he reaches there he finds out that Se-kyung is not there and Eun-gyeol appears instead. He decides to leave the place and go to the rehearsal instead. But En-gyeol begs him to stay and reveals the truth about him being from the future. He also reveals that Y-chan is his father.

But Yi-chan does not believe a word he says and decides to go back to school. But Eun-gyeol threatens him to jump off the cliff if he leaves and ultimately does so when Yi-chan refuses to listen to him. Yi-chan sees him jumping and follows him instantly into the water to save him. He manages to bring Eun-gyeol up to the shore. He then decides to listen to Eun-gyeol to stay on the island which makes Eun-gyeol sob furiously in Yi-chan’s arms.

The both of them reach their house but Eun-gyeol leaves because he has a date with Se-kyung. But Eun-gyeol and his band members decide to go to school as they find out who the security guard is. As they were practising, the gang of boys came inside to take revenge. They start to find which leads to the leader hitting Yi-chan on the head with a rod. However, Eun-gyeol comes to the auditorium in time and saves him.

Twinkling Watermelon Episode 11 Review: Final Thoughts

The new episode is filled with twists and turns that keep the audience on their toes constantly. Eun-gyeol’s determination to save his father makes up for an emotional rollercoaster. It provides a fresh perspective towards the people with specially-abled parents and the hardships they go through to function in the current society. Moreover, the dramatic build-up along with the tense suspense keeps the episode exciting.
