Trolley episode 4 starts with Joong-do crying on his wife’s shoulder, heartbroken about another parent losing their son, while Soo-bin listens in on the conversation, looking grim and sort of angry. Hye-joo asks her to go home first while she takes care of her husband, and it seems like Soo-bin isn’t too happy with the outcome.
As the two chat, Woo-jae thinks back to dropping Joong-do off, wondering if he’d go to Kwangsun University Hospital for Seung-kyun’s wake. However, he seems relieved when he follows him to Hye-joo’s office. Just as he’s about to leave, he sees Soo-bin and threatens her to stay quiet in the house, or if she can’t do that, she can just die.

Soo-bin wonders whether he should be saying all that with the dashcam in the car but is shocked to find it disconnected. She leaves in a huff, and Woo-jae seems happy, threatening a pregnant teenager into submission.
At her office, Hye-joo thinks back to the first time Joong-do had told him about becoming a politician. It bothers her, but Joong-do assures her that she will lead the quiet life that she has always hoped for, which eventually wins her over. In the present, she thanks her sleeping husband for keeping the promise of sharing his worries when things got hard that he made all those years ago.
Elsewhere, Yoo-shin and Seung-hee seal the deal on a building, and it seems like their relationship with Ki-young, the latter’s husband, is just a bit strained. Meanwhile, Joong-do and Hye-joo walk back home hand in hand. She immediately enquires about Yoon-seo and Soo-bin and makes barley tea for the latter when she learns that she has been going through morning sickness. Soo-bin, in response, hands her the results of the drug test.

Both Joong-do and Hye-joo heave a sigh of relief that her results came back negative, and she implores her husband to keep an open mind about the situation. She is, at the end of the day, carrying Ji-hoon’s child. Joong-do agrees but asks her not to get too attached to her lest she gets hurt. Meanwhile, Seung-hee and Ki-young’s relationship continues to suffer quietly.
The next morning, Joong-do continues to be cold to Soo-bin, and at work, they discuss Yoo-shin and her relationship with her daughter and son-in-law. We get a rundown of their internal workings, and in spite of needing an inlet into the family and against the judgement of his colleagues, Joong-do asks them to find another way to get information because, in spite of how much Ki-young is mistreated by his mother-in-law, the family will never snitch on each other.
As Hye-joo tries to find a remedy for morning sickness and Soo-bin searches for her lip balm, Joong-do gets an earful about Hye-joo not being present for the elections and helping her husband. He listens to their concerns patiently but reiterates that his wife can’t help like that the other politicians. He promises to work more to make up for her absence but refuses to break his promise to his wife.
That night, Hye-joo happens to come across Joong-do as she is going back home. They exchange pleasantries, and she light-heartedly warns him not to drink too much. Just as they are about to leave, however, she sees Soo-bin’s lip balm in the car and is taken aback – how did this end up here? She doesn’t mention anything to the men and wishes them well as they go off to work.

She goes to have a conversation with Soo-bin right after dinner. Soo-bin asks her whether she found her lip balm, and she doesn’t tell her the truth. She, thus, asks Hye-joo what she wants to talk about, and she makes something up in order to not divulge more.
That night when Joong-do comes home, the two of them indulge in some light-hearted ribbing she asks him whether other people usually get in his car. He says that tons of people do and then engages in some rather cute flirting, which quashes all discomfort that she felt before.
Later, after a horrible throwing-up session, Soo-bin comes across Joong-do in the hallway, who still seems rather annoyed by her presence. As she is about to change out of her wet clothes, we see a tattoo, ‘JD’, on her torso, just as Joong-do knocks on the door but stops himself at the last moment.
The next morning, Joong-do casually asks Hye-joo about Youngsan and whether she remembers anyone from her hometown. The question pushes her to a frenzy, and after he leaves, she rushes to search for her husband’s activity surrounding Youngsang.
Articles pop up about his involvement in fighting land speculation in the area, but the name Lee doesn’t strike up anything in her mind. However, the anxiousness keeps eating away at her. Meanwhile, at Yoo-shin’s house, the anxiousness is also at an all-time high as she wonders whether she will get in trouble regarding the land that she bought.
She starts screaming at Ki-young for not doing anything about Joong-do and his employees and Seung-hee saves him from her mother’s insults quickly. Outside, he tells his wife that Yoo-shin bought the land after Soon-hong gave her insider information about the development and that the speculations aren’t unfounded.

Seung-hee asks Ki-young not to get involved in the mess, but he assures her that he will take care of this. Unfortunately, he also tells her that he can’t live there anymore because he’s not happy with everything that is going on. The conversation and her mother’s constant treatment of her and her husband leaves her rather disturbed, and when she turns on the TV, she finds Joong-do and Hye-joo at their son’s funeral.
She immediately is left shocked and calls her Kim Jae-eun and she thinks back to what happened years ago. She is filled with rage at the realisation while Hye-joo takes Soo-bin to see Ji-hoon.
Trolley Episode 4 Ending
At the bill passing meeting, Joong-do goes against Soon-hong and the latter insults his son and brings the debate to a stop. However, he gets news that Ki-young has decided to meet them and that Woo-jae will be meeting him. At the cafe, while waiting to have the fated conversation, he, too, sees a picture of Hye-joo.
Just as the feelings from the past rush back to him, Joong-do arrives to meet him. At home, Seung-hee meets Hye-joo, who is left utterly shocked.
Trolley Episode 4 Review

The episode went from rather monotonous and almost boring to picking up steam in the last few minutes. It wasn’t the wild ride that I had hoped for, but at least it gave something of intrigue. Although it’s only been 4 episodes, I feel like the series dangling Hye-joo’s past in front of our faces every opportunity it gets is rather annoying.
I mean, sure. I get it. You wanna keep your options close to your chest – it makes sense. But the audience needs something to keep going.
Regardless, the little JD tattoo pushed me over the edge, maybe because I was so in need of something shocking to happen. Are Soo-bin and Joong-do having an affair? Is that why Woo-jae threatened her and Joong-do is so cold to her? It might not have anything to do with Ji-hoon at all – maybe Joong-do is her unborn child’s father.
That would be very spicy indeed, and the fact that this couple feels too good to be true would come down to Earth for a bit. However, I must say, I really wanted them to be a really solid couple.
Either way, the Youngsan plot point I am still waiting to be explored. I don’t know Seung-hee’s character or how she is supposed to be perceived, but she seems dull as heck for me to care about her. Maybe her past with Hye-joo will bring some interesting spice to an otherwise dull series (for now).
