Moving In With Malaika Episode 14 Review: A Dragged Out Sibling Drama

Moving in With Malaika Episode 14 premiered on December 27, 2022, with a runtime of approximately 24 minutes. The brand new reality show will centre around actress, model, dancer and VJ Malaika Arora. Created by Malaika herself, along with Banijay Asia, the show will give us an exclusive and up-close look at the life of the Indian celebrity.

The actress rose to fame for her appearance in the famous Bollywood song Chaiyyan Chaiyyan from the movie Dil Se along with Shah Rukh Khan. She has been in the public eye ever since, and her divorce from Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salmaan Khan, is one of the most talked about instances around the town. She has also been a victim of internet trolls following her dating news with Arjun Kapoor.

Hence, she has decided to take matters into her own hands and create a show that will show her true self.

Disney+ Hotstar description of the show reads:

ALL SET TO SHOWCASE HER TRUE SELF, MALAIKA WILL SHUT DOWN TROLLS IN HER QUINTESSENTIAL ARORA STYLE AS SHE OPENS UP ABOUT HER LIFE

-Moving In With Malaika Episode 14 Review Contains No Spoilers-

Real or for the dramatics, the latest episode of the reality TV series did not put Malaika in good light. Neha Dhupia appeared in the episode, surprising Malaika with a sudden visit. They started to catch up instantly, and Neha brought up the situation disrupting the entire Arora household.

Amrita shared with Neha that Malaika making jokes about her during the stand-up upset her. As Neha tried to mediate the situation, Malaika completely refused to accept her mistakes. She became extremely defensive and acted mean towards her friend as well. The situation is being dragged out, but Malaika acting immaturely and not apologising for the fatphobic remarks towards her sister is unacceptable.

Moreover, when Malaika finally meets Amrita, she again acts defensively. When Amrita tried to convey her point and did not want any unsolicited comments made about her body, Malaika dismissed it again. The forced sibling drama is not fun in the slightest and is more offensive to many viewers.

Later in the episode, they make up, but the tension still surrounds the atmosphere. They move on from the situation and go out for lunch, and the show ends on that note.

Moving In With Malaika Episode 14: Final Thoughts

The show seems to be going downhill with each episode. Instead of making the celebrity appear in a positive light, she is becoming more and more unlikeable. Malaika comes off as an extremely privileged uptight woman who lacks sensitivity, even towards her sibling. The irony is that the show’s entire premise was to call out the trolls on the internet who send degrading comments, but she is doing the same to Amrita.

Words are powerful and can affect even the strongest people; Malaika should understand that. It is hard to know if the episode was scripted or real, but either way, it is not looking good for the celebrity. Making jokes about someone’s weight in 2022 feels backward, and the creators should do better.

The only refreshing aspect of the show was Amrita Arora and her charming presence. Her sophisticated sense of style and way of conversing makes her likeable. Overall the episode was a letdown.
