The 2nd episode of Tomo-chan Is a Girl or Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! (トモちゃんは女の子!) is here, and this episode was just hilarious with its different character’s quirky antics and the random situations they fall into. Now without further ado, let us jump into this review.

Tomo-chan Is a Girl Episode 2 Overview

Still From Tomo-chan Is a Girl

This series is that much-awaited anime adaptation of our beloved romcom manga of the same name. Fans of this franchise are beyond ecstatic that this perfection of a romcom is finally getting the proper treatment it needed, and we are excited to see how it goes.

The anime is directed by Nanba Hitoshi, who has worked on Anime like Fullmetal Alchemist, Hajime no Ippo, Gosick, etc. The sound director is Masanori Tsuchiya, who has given music to shows like Plastic Memories, Kenja no Mago, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii, etc.

The opening song will be Kurae! Telepathy (くらえ! テレパシー)” performed by Maharajan. The ending theme is “yurukuru*love” performed by voice actors Rie Takahashi, Rina Hidaka, Sally Amaki.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Tomo-chan Is a Girl Episode 2 Review and Recap – Skirt-Related Problems

Another hilarious episode of Tomo-chan Is a Girl! is here, and we are back again with a review of it. The first part of this episode addresses a very common situation for all girls, that is the length of Tomo’s skirt.

This discussion happened because one day, when Tomo and Jun were riding a bus, Tomo got groped by a man. Just like many others, Tomo feels embarrassed and decides not to say anything, but Jun sensing her discomfort, catches that man and makes sure he gets arrested. Due to this incident, Tomo and even the audience felt that Jun must see her as a girl now, and he might have gotten this protective because he has feelings for her. But Jun ends up telling Tomo why not stop wearing skirts altogether so that this kind of situation never arises again.

Tomo obviously beats him and runs away from that place. Now I believe he said this because he just doesn’t want Tomo to face such a problem. Misuzu thinks the same as well, but for the sake of her entertainment, she tells Tomo not to wear any shorts under her skirt. This results in a laughable and embarrassing situation where Tomo’s skirt lifts in front of Jun due to the wind, and he almost faints.

The next part of the episode introduces a much-beloved character from the manga. She is none other than Carol, the second future female friend of Tomo. Carol is of English descent and extremely beautiful. Being related to Misaki, she is also engaged to him and pretty much in love with him as well.

When she first meets Tomo, she realises Misaki likes Tomo, making her an enemy in love. To get more info on Tomo, Carol even goes to Misuzu, and she gives her some ideas about whether she should be worried about Tomo or not. Again for her amusement, Misuzu tells Carol to stick close to Jun and see whether Tomo is in love with Misaki Senpai.

Just as Misuzu predicted, hilarity ensues when Tomo sees Jun and Carol together, almost beating the crap out of him. Carol sensing that she has done something bad, and that Tomo is not at all her rival, befriends her and becomes a new member of Tomo’s circle.

Verdict

All in all, this anime is pretty hilarious with its comic scenarios. The comedy is well-written and light-hearted. I will definitely wait for the next episode to release. Watch this anime on Crunchyroll.
