Tsurune Season 2 Episode 2 Overview

Still From Tsurune Season 2

When the first season of this franchise dropped, we did not think it would be able to make a name for itself in the competitive sports anime market. But, it managed to set itself apart by becoming one of the very first anime that solely focuses on Kyudo, a Japanese martial art of archery.

This second season will be directed by Yamamura Takuya, who has worked on fan favourites like Koe no Katachi, Violet Evergarden, Clannad: After Story, and Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren, etc.

Tsuruoka Youta will be directing the music for this series, and we have heard his works on anime like Koe no Katachi, Violet Evergarden, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica, Hellsing Ultimate, etc.

Kyoto Animation studios will be handling the animation, and we fans can rest assured of the quality as we have already received masterpieces like Koe no Katachi, Violet Evergarden, etc, from them.

Tsurune Season 2 Episode 2 Review and Recap – Noone Is Perfect

The second episode of this beautiful anime is here, and we are back again with its review. Anytime I watch Tsurune, I get absolutely mesmerised by its animation and the fitting background music. But other than that, many things command your attention in today’s episode.

Still From Tsurune Season 2

Remember the twins from Kirisaki High school? Well, one of them, Manji, revokes his name from the roaster of regular players. And apparently, he told no one about this decision of his, even his brother, Senichi. Just like the audience, all the other members of the Kirisaki Kyudo club were shocked to see him give up his place, but they accepted it, as it was his decision.

But he is not giving up the sport he just wants to work on his drawing of the bow so that he can come back later, better than ever. We also discovered a bit about the background of Shuu, who previously had been mostly known as Minato’s friend. He comes from a pretty affluent family, which describes his patient and elegant mannerisms.

Shuu is a kind older brother who loves his sister very much and does not want her to attend his competition for fear he might mess up. And he does not want to look like a fool in front of her. But amongst all the nerve-wracking tensions comes the Regional Tournament day, and everybody gears up for the competition.

In the first round, Kazemai Kyudo Club battles another school and goes to the second round with a great performance from everyone. And, by the end, Shuu even lends some of his best arrows to Ryouhei for the next round when his arrows broke.

Throughout the episode, one thing was continuously put forward in front of us, and that is how Shuu is not as perfect as everyone makes him be. He, too, is a human who can make mistakes and is allowed to commit those errors. Even Manji scolds his brother in the beginning for idealising Shuu too much. Hopefully, they will elaborate more on this topic later.

Verdict

This episode again was quite free-flowing with a decent pace that does not rush to tell its story. The anime totally captures the beauty of Kyudo as a sport, especially the hypnotising quality of tsurune, the sound that reverberates when one releases the arrow. In the next episode, we will see some new faces and new rivalries will come into existence, for which we are very excited.
