The Wonder: Netflix Releases the Official Poster of Florence Pugh’s Next Project

It’s Florence Pugh’s world, we’re just living in it. After the much-anticipated and controversial release of her last movie Don’t Worry Darling, Pugh’s next movie The Wonder is set to premiere on Netflix this November, and will also be receiving a theatrical release.

Telluride and Toronto Film Festival have already listed out their reviews for the film and neither of them can stop praising Pugh’s performance in the upcoming project. The wunderkind actress is undoubtedly the rising star of this generation, and her talent will walk alongside the Academy award-winning direction of Sebastián Lelio for this psychological thriller.

Emma Donoghue’s novel which goes by the same name has been adapted to shape this film’s storyline and it’s much like its psychodramatic predecessor Room which had also been adapted for the big screen. The plot follows the life of a girl who “stops eating but remains miraculously alive and well” (Good Reads). It’s ultimately inspired by the real-life happenings of the 19th-century sighting of the “fasting girls.”

The same Victorian era-clad looks have been adopted by Pugh in the first looks of the movie to be released by Netflix. Having the Irish Midlands of 1862 as its background, the movie will feature the character of Lib Wright, an English nurse who’s brought in to look after the aforementioned young girl named Anna O’Donnell.

The period movie records the gathering of religious pilgrims from all around to catch a glimpse of the marvel. Aspiring journalists also swarm in to dig into inside information and it’s all up to Pugh’s Lib to protect the girl and analyze her case despite all these intervening challenges. Florence Pugh’s character is a keen believer in science in this movie but the prevailing overarching scenario puts her in the middle of a tussle between science and faith. Which side will she choose at the final hour? Or will she have to find a way to bridge the gap between the two to make it work?

Guess we’ll have to wait till November to solve this mystery. Looking forward to yet another smashing performance by Pugh.
