The Netflix series is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Kousuke Oono. The Netflix adaptation is produced by J.C.Staff.

Netflix describes the series as:

After disappearing from the underworld, the legendary yakuza Tatsu, “the Immortal Dragon,” resurfaces — as a fiercely devoted stay-at-home husband.

I feel like there’s no better way of starting the new year than with a rather excellent and extremely funny show that is just so extra that it will take out of the post-new year’s evening slump.

The season gets weirder and crazier, and Tatsu gets new friends, acquaintances and mentors to look up to. He also gets more into his househusband duties, and his dedication will make you want to do better this new year – talk about inspiration and enthusiasm to start the new year off!

Let’s talk about the new characters in The Way of the Househusband season 2 – a mysterious man who loves Policure as much as Miku and is a rather mysterious character. Torajiro’s formidable rival adds some spice to his life and ours, although the former is a more pronounced addition to the story and is peppered in during the weirdest of times.

The Way of the Househusband season 2’s stories have gotten wackier, with us getting to know Tatsu just a little more. Some of his newer traits even take Miku by surprise, so you know this is serious stuff! Besides that, The Eight Dragons storyline is adorable, and it’s not every day that Tatsu meets his match.

Apart from that, there are a lot of animals in the season, with the most adorable hamster, dogs and cats to keep everyone company and light up our screens. Tatsu’s love for Gin, or other animals, for that matter, adds an added cuteness to his already cute Yakuza vibe.

The series, as per usual, has multiple stories in each 17-minute episode. Every story is different but equally humorous. However, they all still make sense together. The season has Tatsu entertaining children, which is also a rather cute watch – I loved the part where he is threatened and his soul crushed by a little child.

But he always finds a way to overcome the adversities that come with the territory while also mixing his past and present together.

Summing Up: The Way of the Househusband Season 2

All in all, I love this series. It’s extremely funny, light-hearted, and a warm watch. It’s heartwarming, as always, to watch Tatsu take his job as a househusband so seriously and fulfil his duties by giving his 100%. Plus, the love that he has for those around him, more so for Miku and Masa, is just adorable.

Kenjiro Tsuda, as always, is awesome as Tatsu and his phenomenal performance amplifies the humour on-screen.

The Way of the Househusband is streaming on Netflix.
