The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Ending Explained

The season starts off with Belly and Jeremiah getting ready to spend another summer at Cousins, this time as boyfriend-girlfriend. However, she learns that, on top of Jeremiah having to repeat a semester, he also cheated on Belly during spring break. Heartbroken, she breaks up with Jeremiah, but when Steven gets into a dangerous accident, things fall apart, and the trauma ends in Belly and Jeremiah getting back together.

Ecstatic, Jeremiah proposes to her, which she happily accepts, but everyone else in their families is left shocked when they finally announce their plans to get married soon. Laurel refuses to attend, which leaves Belly heartbroken, but she manages to forge on. With Jeremiah now working in his father’s company to take on the responsibility of his future family, Belly starts to feel the pressure of her adult decisions as she has to do most of it alone. Surprisingly, however, Conrad comes to the rescue as they bump into each other at Cousins, and the two rekindle their friendship, and deeper feelings soon follow.

Why did Belly and Jeremiah break up?

Throughout the season, the outward happiness of the couple slowly shows cracks as Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship buckles under the pressure of their family’s pushback as well as the looming consequences of their upcoming nuptials. They both slowly realise how unprepared they are for this step.

However, it all comes to a crashing halt on the day of their wedding, when Conrad tells Belly his feelings, which takes her by surprise. She tells Jeremiah about it, and he is immediately angry, his insecurities coming to the surface surrounding his failures compared to Conrad’s more successful life. In the end, the two break up after Jeremiah tells her that he knows about Christmas and although they didn’t do anything physically, he knows that something changed that day.

With Sussanna’s letter and with his huge inferiority complex in front of Conrad, Jeremiah asks her whether she loves his brother, and she is unable to deny it. The two break up after that.

Why did Belly go to Paris?

In the aftermath of her breakup with Jeremiah, Belly, unable is heartbroken and decides to rejoin the summer program in Paris for a change of scenery. Unfortunately, once she arrives, she realises that there has been a misunderstanding and there is no seat available. However, instead of coming back, she decides to stay in Paris and eventually creates a life for herself there, working two jobs and also studying.

What happens in the end?

In episode 10, we left off with Jeremiah and Conrad making amends, and the latter finally gets Jeremiah’s blessings to go after Belly.

Episode 11 starts with Conrad in Paris, and although their meeting is initially awkward, by the end of the night, Belly and Conrad are sleeping with one another. Meanwhile, Taylor is angry with Steven for not telling her about his move to California, but thankfully, the two of them hash out their differences and decide to move together. Elsewhere, Jeremiah confesses to liking Denise and the two kiss.

Back in Paris, their night of lovemaking ends in Belly getting cold feet and pushing Conrad away. This hurts him, as he had hoped to have a fresh start with her. In the end, Conrad walks out, but thankfully, Belly realises that Conrad is the man for him and she runs after him, reuniting with him in the train to Brussels. The series ends on a happy note, with Conrad and Belly returning to Cousins, happy as ever.
