3 Things We Look Forward to in The Idol
Music & the Industry
Musical artists have always been very keen on making documentaries about themselves and their journey. Starting from Kanye West’s Jeen-yuhs to the recently released Machine Gun Kelly’s Life in Pink, they have a personal touch to their shows/movies. But this HBO release is going to be completely different as it is fiction based on the realities of the music industry.
The show is going to be set against the backdrop of the music industry with the focus on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult’s complicated relationship with a rising pop idol. Hopefully, the show will be real with its portrayal of success, career lows, substance abuse and depression, all of which we know are prevalent situations in the industry.
Lily-Rose Depp, Blackpink’s Jennie, Rachel Sennott and the Ensemble Cast
The cast for the show is truly fascinating. It has actors, singer-songwriters and, celebs who are both! The audience is excited to see Depp in another acting project that will bring out her true potential and, Jennie returning to the screen after a long time. Sennott, who will be appearing in Bodies Bodies Bodies, is an interesting addition to the cast. And, of course, no one can wait to see The Weeknd act.
Sam Levinson, The Weeknd, HBO- The Perfect Collaboration
Levinson is the creator of Euphoria and, the audience is well assured of his capabilities after delivering us with a teen drama that breaks all the stereotypes and pulls us in, deep. As for The Weeknd, we know how brilliant he is as a musician and has always impressed us with his releases that often enough are deeper than people would like to believe. Bringing these two geniuses together, HBO has to be a network that is no bullshit and all show at this point which just peaks the collaborative result expected from this combination.
