This HBO period drama, set during a period of economic boom, follows the new-money old-money conflict between the Russell family headed by Bertha Russell and the van Rhijn family in the 1880s high society of New York City.
In the new season, as reported by Deadline, Bertha Russell’s ambitions would have consequences as Agnes van Rhijn captures the opportunity to get her position. Deadline writes, “Bertha Russell (Coon) changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) seizes an opportunity to regain her position. Meanwhile, Marian (Louisa Jacobson) forges a new path for herself and Peggy (Denée Benton) works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for.”
