The Elusive Samurai Episode 6 Recap

This episode starts with a tense scene as Tokiyuki and Genba nearly get caught while stealing the emperor’s edict. For seasoned escape artists like them, this should be a breeze, but they’re up against a formidable opponent—Ichikawa, who possesses exceptional hearing abilities. Ichikawa quickly realizes their ploy and almost kills Tokiyuki, but luckily, he’s not as skilled an archer as his master, Sadamune, and misses the shot, triggering an intense chase.

The first part of this episode is packed with thrills and bizarre characters that will give you goosebumps. Sadamune may have seemed creepy before, but his retainer, Ichikawa, takes the creepiness to a new level. Clinging to his master, Ichikawa guides him on how to land shots at the intruders, unaware that Genba has already been won over by Tokiyuki. Genba, now confident that Tokiyuki will never betray him, steps up his game and ultimately saves the day.

Tokiyuki gains a new retainer in Genba, not just out of loyalty, but also because of Genba’s desire for money. However, the real highlight of the episode isn’t the intense, creepy, and funny first half—it’s the second half that captivates.

We learn more about the growing tension surrounding Takauji. His rising popularity and power are alarming to the new emperor and his sons. Prince Moriyoshi, aware of Takauji’s potential for betrayal, decides to take matters into his own hands. Takauji is revealed to be more monstrous than humans when he mercilessly kills many with little effort.
