Tower of God Season 2 Episode 5 Recap

This episode begins with a flashback, as Khun reminisces about a time when Bam was still innocent and unbetrayed. We see Endorsi playfully asking Bam on a date, though he doesn’t take her too seriously and even picks a flower for Rachel instead.

In the present, Khun learns of a talented yet dangerous slayer on the 20th floor. He then meets Edin, a speedy scout known for never letting anyone overtake him on his way to the 25th floor. Despite his skills, Edin refuses to join any regulars for reasons unknown. Determined to recruit him, Khun cleverly lures Edin into a bet: if Edin wins, he gets a valuable Suspendium, but if he loses, he must join Khun’s team. Khun’s ruthless and strategic approach to recruiting leaves no doubt about his cunning nature.

Khun’s new subordinates aren’t surprised by his tactics, indicating that this isn’t the first time he’s used such methods to get what he wants. Later, Khun visits Rachel, showing her kindness that might frustrate viewers, knowing she’s the one who betrayed Bam. Rachel continues to play the victim, even shedding tears over Bam’s supposed death. But Khun, being as intelligent as he is, likely sees through her facade, aware of Rachel’s manipulative nature and her true motives for climbing the tower.

Tower of God Season 2 Episode 6 Review Mazino Has Arrived

Today’s episode starts with Yeon going to where Viole had been frequenting the past few days. She finds out that he was just meeting with his other members from the terror organisation Fug. Here, we also see Hwaryun, who must have been the one to recruit Bam in Fug under the name Viole. Yeon did not take this lightly and started to berate his teammates, who were more powerful than her. Thankfully, Viole knocks her out before she can sign her own death warrant.

But these people are not bad at heart, as we can see from their caring for Viole. They even come to greet Viole’s new teammates and introduce themselves, altering the ruthless image of Fug. However, the moment you think they are a bunch of harmless good people, their true colour shows, and you understand the whole story behind Bam acting under a different name. You also finally find out why he is a part of this organisation and has become more ruthless than ever before.

He cannot fail any of the tests, and thus, he needs a strong team to help him get through the challenges. Unfortunately, he is stuck with his current group, towards whom he has also developed a weakness. Wangnan understands this, and he is also determined to help Viole in any way possible. But things become very complicated when their next test involves a person who can guarantee the death of Wangnan and his team.

You see, they will have to go inside Zygaena, the deep sea fish, a creature worshipped by the 21st-floor people. There is a flower that grows inside its body that they must retrieve, which should be enough to pass them all.  However, the fish rotates its body every 30 minutes and on top of that, it is brimming with traps and creatures. But the worst part is it also has one of the most powerful characters of Tower of God wanting the same flower and killing every other who comes to retrieve it.

Verdict

This episode was very interesting as we finally see a character whose arrival has been much anticipated by the fans. Other than that, we finally understand why Bam became Viole and the reason behind his change in personality. But, honestly, I would have loved it if he could finally move on from trusting Rachel after what she did.
