The Clearing Episode 7 Review: This Too Shall Pass

We are almost at the edge of The Clearing. The seventh episode marks the second last episode of the series and, rightly so because it is a full-fledged showdown between Adrienne and Freya this time. Additionally, some casualties make this fight all the more intense.

In The Clearing Episode 7, Freya gets to know about Adrienne restarting The Kindred. It is creepy and scary and, Freya confronts Adrienne about the same. However, we get to know the kind of hold Adrienne has over Freya as she has helped her and vice versa over the years, which we had not known in the previous episodes. It makes sense now why there is a closeness but, deliberate distance between the two characters.

However, what Adrienne is doing is so wrong that Freya does not hold back to seek the help of the police. This is where Joe walks in. Freya tries to tell him and show him about Adrienne reforming The Kindred but, it is all in vain as all the evidence of the initiation has been swiped clean. This smart move does nothing but, push Freya over the edge.

In no time, Freya comes clean to Joe about some things from the past and the present that makes the cop regret trusting people along the way. But with much of Adrienne’s secret out, a public gathering is where it all gets spilt with a physical fight ensuing between two sides- the one with Adrienne and the one against her.

But whatever happens in The Clearing Episode 7 does not make things easier for Freya who is just trying to do the right thing. In fact, the episode ends in a kind of panic that the upcoming episode better be able to answer or else it will leave a bitter aftertaste in our throat.

The Clearing Episode 7: Final Thoughts

The Clearing Episode 7 had a lot of unpacking. It also had a lot of loose ends to connect. We finally have some deep insight into Freya and Adrienne’s relationship alongside that of Freya’s relationship with Wayne and why Max was not mothered by Freya. A lot of answers were filed at us and we are happy. However, the suspenseful, panicky end is going to leave us twisting and turning in our bed until the next week’s finale.
