The Astronaut: Jin is the First BTS Member to Bag a Solo Trophy at M Countdown

Jin’s The Astronaut is surely a musical wonder in itself and there’s no denying that. Today, even Mnet M Countdown has certified the song’s magical brilliance in pulling a fandom closer as it is now the first BTS solo project to have won a trophy at one of these music events.

The song was supposedly a gift from the Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to Jin since this would be his last musical release before he enlists in the military with his fellow bandmates. The Rock band had previously also collaborated with the septet for the single My Universe in 2021 which was also featured on the British rock band’s ninth album titled Music of the Spheres.

Ever since the spell-binding music video of The Astronaut was released on October 28, 2022, the track has been rising higher on all global music charts and recording its own series of historical wins worldwide. M Countdown is a South Korean music program that ranks the recent music releases of the month with one artist reigning at the top.

This time the solo artist took away the glistening trophy, thus marking not only the first win of his solo single but also the first soloist victory in BTS. His single album is also racing against all other South Korean musical releases on the Hanteo chart and has now become the #39 Best-Selling Album of all Time on the South Korean music chart system after having sold 947,662 copies and counting.

Five out of seven members of the band had already hit the number one spot on Billboards’ “The Emerging Artists” chart, now the eldest member of the group has also joined them with his dreamy synth-pop single. He had previously also released other singles like Super Tuna, which was a gift for the fans on his 29th birthday. Other than that he’d also come out with a rather solemn Abyss in 2020, Tonight and Yours.
