Falling For Christmas Review: Lindsay Lohan Needs Some Miracle To Save This Movie

Directed by Janeen Damian and screenplay by Jeff Bonnet and Ron Olivier, Falling For Christmas is a brand new Christmas flick of this year. With a runtime of 95 minutes, the movie centres around a woman named Sierra, played by Lindsay Lohan.

The rest of the cast includes Chord Overstreet as Jake, George Young as Tad, Jack Wagner as Beauregard Belmont, Olivia Perez as Avy, Alejandra Flores as Alejandra Carlisle, Chase Ramsey as Terry Carver, Sean J. Dillingham as Ralph, Antonio D. Charity as Sheriff Borden and Blythe Howard as Dr Layla Monroe.

Falling For Christmas Review

The movie starts off looking like a fun Christmas comedy flick for everyone to enjoy this holiday season. The production of the movie is incredibly beautiful. The props and the locations used might not be top-notch, but it is enough for it to add to the appeal of the movie. The outfits, costumes, and styling of the cast are also noticeably exquisite, which keeps the viewers further engaged in the movie the entire time.

The movie heavily falls short with its plot. It attempts to add to the list of Lindsay Lohan’s iconic romantic comedy movies, but it does not come anywhere close to those. The jokes are unfunny, and the over-the-top physical comedy does not work anymore for the audience, mainly because it is overdone. The plot is fairly predictable; only a person living under a rock would not know how the story would unfold.

The romantic aspect of the movie also felt bland. There was no chemistry between the main characters, Sierra and Jake. At times it felt forced and rather looked awkward whenever they tried to do anything resembling romantic. The blame partly goes to the plot of the movie, which did nothing to save the sinking ship.

Furthermore, as the plot progresses, it shows how little to nothing Sierra knows about any necessities of life. As simple as the task of making the bed or carrying skis without tumbling down seemed impossible for her. Everyone in the movie seemed like they knew nothing about how to do the jobs that they’re responsible for; only Sierra’s father seemed to be the logical one.

The comeback performance given by Lindsay also was rather disappointing. Needless to say, a woman in her late 30s playing the role of a rich, snobby and clumsy daughter of a millionaire would definitely be unrelatable to her. As for Chord Overstreet, his performance was rather better than the rest, and he made a good attempt at the character, but it wasn’t enough.

There were no major takeaways from the movie, only that we can hope for Christmas miracles. Everything magically works out for each of the characters at the end thanks to Santa Claus, who appears at the right place and right time every time someone is in distress.

This movie will feel like a time machine; it will take us back to 2004 when movies were full of plot holes and unfunny jokes with a touch of bland romantic angle. The movie can still be enjoyed because it does not need much focus, and one can watch it with their family playing board games!

Falling For Christmas is now streaming on Netflix.
