The 100 Girlfriends Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
It seems the Aijou household has gone far too long without a new member because, lo and behold, we now have a ninth girlfriend joining the mix. This episode kicks off with a major concern troubling all of Aijou’s girlfriends. Remember that intense food competition where everyone devoured whatever they could? Well, the aftermath isn’t exactly pleasant—each of them has gained a few extra pounds. However, while they were distracted, Aijou found himself face-to-face with yet another new love interest, making for quite an intriguing addition.
Iku, the latest arrival, spends her time standing at the school gates, tirelessly trying to recruit members for her girls’ baseball team. This is also the moment when she first locks eyes with our protagonist, and the sparks fly instantly. Upon discovering that she must urgently gather eight more players to keep her team from disbanding, Aijou steps in and promises to lend a hand. And just like that, their love story begins.

Iku is an interesting mix of traits. She exudes a strong, tomboyish energy, even referring to herself with the masculine pronoun ‘boku,’ yet at the same time, she has an unexpected masochistic streak.
The 100 Girlfriends Season 2 Episode 6 Review

Today’s episode saw the birth of the Rentaro family baseball team, which is gearing up for its battle against another powerhouse team filled with enthusiastic baseball players. The girls from the different schools are a rowdy bunch with an even rowdier name, which is Jurassic High School. It is apparent that they have played against Iku previously and shared some sort of history with her, making them pretty confident that they can win against her.
The game begins, and right off the bat, the Rentaro family is not doing well at all. The only proper baseball player on their team is Iku, and she is only helpful while she is pitching. When she came to bat, something happened, and she was unable to strike the ball. It does not help the fact that others also cannot bat against the formidable pitcher from Jurassic High School, who is literally breaking bats with her throws. The Jurassic High School could have easily won the whole match without lifting a finger had they not committed a grave mistake.

Rapuko, the catcher from their team, thought it would be a great idea to destroy the morale of the opponent team further. She targets Shizuka, fully knowing that an innocent soul like her will crumble under pressure and she trash-talks Shizuka into having doubts about herself. Shizuka succumbs and messes up the game completely, breaking down in the process. However, once the Rentaro family got to know about this, they turned up their super saiyan mode and went ham against their competitors.
Today’s episode had a little less comedy, but whenever the punches came on screen, it was hilarious. The obvious Dragon Ball Z references they used are brilliant, and the Master Roshi comparison was genius. And yes, there was also a kiss towards the end that sealed Iku’s addition to the Rentaro family.
Verdict

I liked today’s episode as well, as it was very entertaining. The most fun, however, is reserved for the voice actors because I think they love their work. The way they portray their characters makes us believe in them.
