Task Episode 7 Recap

Tom tells Aleah about Anthony’s involvement in the entire operation, and she is left angry, wanting to keep investigating despite it being out of their hands. Elsewhere, Michael and Vincent have a conversation about next steps, and while the latter wants to clean house and save themselves, greed overtakes Michael’s rationality as he desperately seeks to get the drug money.

As Tom and Aleah start their investigation, more things come to the surface, including Eryn’s dead body in the lake holding Perry’s necklace. While Perry grapples with the idea of killing Jayson, Maeve wonders what to do with the bag full of drugs that Robbie left for him. Later, Donna lets Vincent know Perry and Jayson’s location while the latter learns about Eryn’s murder and is overcome with a sense of revenge. It doesn’t take him much time to stab him after that and make a run for it.

Things come to a head as Anthony is targeted by the Dark Hearts to tie up loose ends, but he shoots both Michael and Vincent and makes a run for it. Meanwhile, the other Dark Hearts members make their way to Maeve to get the money that Robbie supposedly got after selling the drugs, but Anthony gets to her first to warn her. Unfortunately for her, Jayson gets to her before she can make a run for it, and just then, Tom and Aleah get there too.

It’s a tense stand-off, but eventually, it’s Anthony who ends up shooting Jayson dead before he hurts Maeve.

In the aftermath, Anthony is alive in the hospital while Tom gets ready for Ethan’s trial, and after a heart-to-heart with Emily, the family heads out to the courthouse. Tom makes an impactful victim statement that leaves everyone emotional, and it’s clear that he’s being completely genuine with every feeling. In the end, Tom ends up handing Sam over to a new family, hoping that this would be the best decision for him and starting his life over. Meanwhile, Maeve and her family move for a fresh start as well.

I think Task ends on the absolute right note with the emotions overcoming the tension. While the first half of the episode did seem a bit rushed, I feel like the episode was always supposed to end on a more emotional note, with all of the characters overcoming their traumas and trying their best to start life over. Overall, I enjoyed the series quite a bit as it has all the right notes to keep viewers hooked.
