Study Group Episode 7 Recap

The episode opens up with everyone in the school gathered in the auditorium where the vice principal opens up about Han-gyeong’s actions in order to humiliate her and make her the target of everyone’s animosity. Han-gyeong has no other choice but to get on the stage where she tells everyone that she indeed wishes to change the school and follow in the footsteps of her teacher- Oh Jeong-hwa; the same teacher who died some time back.

While this shocks many present there, she continues speaking of her wishes when suddenly, Ga-min barges inside the auditorium and punches Han-ul. He too doesn’t think for long before striking back at Ga-min, but all Ga-min tells him is that he is not invincible and can be hurt too. He tells him to feel the pain as a reminder that he too is a human who can feel pain.

The scene changes to the school talking about Ga-min’s actions, while the Three Cheols of Yunsung are discussing what they will do now that they’ve failed to protect Ha-ul. Elsewhere, Han-ul is also not happy about what has happened but first, he decides to take care of the Three Cheols, starting with Kim Sun-cheol. Meanwhile, Sun-cheol visits his grandfather at the hospital who asks him when he will become a great person.

He is the one who keeps pushing Sun-cheol to study and wishes he become a great person. Sun-cheol too listens to his grandfather and works hard towards studying, despite everything else. However, paying the medical bills is not easy despite all the efforts he puts into it. Later, he accidentally meets Ga-min at the hospital as the latter is here to visit his mother. The two get to talking and Sun-cheol finds out why Ga-min did what he did.

Ga-min then asks him why he listens to Ha-ul when he likes to study instead. Sun-cheol tells him that through Han-ul he can get a job at YB Constructions without much effort. Plus, he is already in 12th grade, so studying now is harder for him. Right then, he gets a call from his friend warning him about Han-ul’s men trying to find him, but it’s too late. The gang fighters’ trainers are already here and they take Sun-cheol away with him.

Sun-cheol quietly leaves with them in order to not let their attention fall on Ga-min and get him into trouble. Ga-min is unable to stop them, right then his eyes fall on Sun-cheol’s phone that he left behind and sees his grandfather calling him. He makes his way to Sun-cheol’s grandfather who has him correct the test papers he just solved. Ga-min finds out why Sun-cheol studies and where he gets his inspiration from as he corrects his grandfather’s TOEIC papers and sees the optimism on his face.

The next day, news of a high school student’s involvement in a murder case spread around and Ga-min realises that it is Sun-cheol they are talking about. Right then, Detective Na arrives and questions him about Sun-cheol, but he is not ready to believe that Sun-cheol is the culprit. As he shares his speculations with Se-hyeon, the latter prepares a presentation for the group where he tells them why Sun-cheol may be innocent.

Ga-min also shares the incident when he met Sun-cheol’s friend who told him how Sun-cheol must have been framed as he witnessed the real murderer wash the murder weapon himself. Looking at Ga-min’s wish to save Sun-cheol, the group prepares to save Sun-cheol by getting the murder weapon. Soon, they portray themselves as backup fighters and make their way to the building where the backup fighters usually go.

However, what they don’t know is that a meeting is being held there and Han-ul is also present in the building. This doesn’t stop Ga-min, Ji-u and Lee Jun who enter the building smoothly and begin their mission. Unfortunately, they get separated when they see Han-ul walking towards the stairs and Ga-min ends up alone on the terrace. With no time to lose, they resume their mission but Lee Jun has to be separated as he comes face to face with an old opponent on the floor they escaped to.

Ji-u needs to carry on alone and she soon gets the weapon in her hand, however, right then another member enters the cabin and catches her. Meanwhile, Sun-cheol is handed the money for taking the blame for the murder in front of everyone as he officially becomes part of the Han-ul’s family.

Study Group Episode 7 Review

The episode surely runs through a lot of events taking place as we see one bomb after another dropping on us. The saga of wonderful performances continues while the plot gets better and better. We are definitely seeing another member joining the study group soon and while the mission to get him in is more complex than any other, it is surely going to be worth the watch. Meanwhile, Ga-min’s silliness continues and this constancy is certainly entertaining despite our love for development.

I love how the study group listens to Ga-min’s plea, not just because of his adamant nature, but also because they have faith in him. However, I do wish we could get more of Han-gyeong and Geon-yeop in the upcoming episodes as they are characters who need more screen time. For now, let’s look forward to how things move along for the group’s current mission and what new move of Ga-min’s do we see.
