Stranger Things 4 Volume 2: Who Dies At the End?
Dr Brenner
Definitely, not our favourite doctor in town but, Brenner’s death did aid the storyline to finally let Eleven be free of her inhibitions. Played by Matthew Modine, the character dies in the first episode of the second volume aka Stranger Things 4 Episode 8 titled ‘Papa’. Brenner plays an important role in the episode as he continues to teach Eleven how to harness her powers while also keeping her a prisoner.
When the facility housing the experiment on Eleven is discovered by Sullivan and the military, it is a bloody war with Dr. Brenner as the last casualty. After releasing Eleven from the power-dampening device as an act of kindness on his death bed and having one last conversation with his daughter, the doctor passed away.

Dr. Owens
Another doctor but, surely the one we like amongst the lot, Dr. Owens did bend hell and heaven all throughout the series to help and protect Eleven. In the eighth episode of Stranger Things 4, we see him being held captive by Dr. Brenner due to their difference in opinion about Eleven’s powers and deeds. Due to this, he is unable to escape when the military infiltrates the facility.
Owens tries to convince Sullivan to give Eleven a chance but, the latter does not listen, ordering a shoot-out at Eleven. Leaving Owens, played by Paul Reiser, in the basement, captured, the show never confirms the doctor’s death until Joyce and Hopper try to contact him and get to know from one of his agents that the doc is “indisposed”, which could a reference to his death.

Eddie Munson
A new character was introduced to us this season and taken away too soon, Eddie Munson was not the character we had our bets on when it came to predicting who will die in this particular volume, yet it is a death that has left the entire fandom shocked and moved. The Hellfire club favourite got involved with the group not only because of his D&D obsession but, also because of he became the prime suspect in Chrissy’s death.
This only led the audience and the other characters in the show to spend more time with this endearing guitarist who went out with an emotional bang in the season finale. After giving us a blasting rendition of Metallica’s Master of Puppets and sending Dustin to the real world safe, Eddie cuts the tie at the gate in his trailer and goes out there to fight the bats in Vecna’s world to buy Nancy, Steve and Robin more time.
Little did we know that this ordinary person would become our extraordinary hero by the end as he bravely faces the creatures and is heavily injured. In the ninth episode, Eddie dies in the arms of Dustin, who managed his way back to the Upside Down to stop Eddie from his big sacrifice. The character was played by Joseph Quinn.

Jason Carver
The psychotic old boyfriend of Chrissy, who kinda put most of our loved characters at risk due to his vengeful attitude towards them as he thought Eddie and his gang were responsible for Chrissy’s death takes his last breath in the season finale of Stranger Things 4. The star basketball player attacked Lucas at the Creel house while the final battle between Eleven and Vecna took place parallel.
Lucas does his best to overpower Jason and throw him to the ground. But, unfortunate for Jason, the cracks of the Upside Down spreading in the real Hawkins finds him on its way, consuming him as a whole by ripping him into two halves. Mason Dye played the character in the series.

Maxine Mayfield (Not Completely)
Well, technically Max died and then, did not. Sadie Sink’s character has been a fan favourite since its introduction in the previous season of Stranger Things and was a character at most risk of dying during the fourth season after being cursed by Vecna. Max baits herself for Nancy, Steve and Robin to fight Vecna in the Upside Down world, which is when things get extremely intense and worked up.
Even with a telepathic Eleven’s help, Max is technically unable to survive Vecna’s attack which twists her bones and bleeds her eyes. Lying in Lucas’ arms, scared, Max cries that she does not want to die. In the fight between Vecna and Eleven, the latter gains the upper hand, eventually saving Max but, still leaving her deeply injured. By the end of the show, we see Eleven, Mike and others visiting a hospitalized Max, still unconscious, so we know she might have just survived Vecna’s attack with Eleven’s help.
