Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration Guarantees to Amaze and Delight

This pride month, Netflix is throwing some seriously rainbow shades at the LGBTQ+ community. The entertainment powerhouse has revealed a new collection (or, should I say, a group) featuring over 460 titles that shed light on the diverse spectrum of LGBTQ+ stories, identities and self-expression.

“A laugh and a glass of fine champagne” was the standard description of Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration hosted by Billy Eichner, where some of the best in comedy headlined and featured performances from icons. The unique setting created a history-making atmosphere where neighbours gathered to celebrate an unprecedented reunion of LGBTQ+ talent.

The OTT giant knows that a rainbow represents more than just colours to represent the LGBTQ+ community. It’s about the whole picture. And for Stand Out: an LGBTQ+ Celebration, Netflix went all out, adding a burst of colour and expression!

The Comedians Keep Delivering Laughs in Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration

You’re probably asking yourself why they titled this Stand Out? Well, because when it comes to LGBTQ+ entertainment, they’ve been relegated to the sidelines. Now’s the time to make a mark; to do that, they need to be heard. Here’s our generation’s most refined LGBTQ+ talent brought together for a once in a lifetime celebration.

The humour was not only palpable in the venue but online, too. I’ve been to a lot of stand-up comedy shows. I’ve seen big-name comedians, small-time performers and everything in between. If you’ve ever tried to catch a stand-up show, you know how difficult it can be, especially if you don’t see the comedian or haven’t heard of their work. So many talented queer comedians deserve a bigger spotlight, and now is the time to shine The Greek Theatre’s stage on them!

Rarely are the small-time comedians listed, and even when they are, they are harder to find because they aren’t on the main list. The LGBTQ+ community has such a wealth of talent, and they deserve to be recognised by as many people as possible—this celebration of all forms of queer comedy, past, present and future. If you are interested in LGBTQ+ humour and performing arts, this is one event you won’t want to miss!
