Jurassic World Dominion Review Contains Mild Spoilers
In Jurassic World Dominion, Owen and Claire look after Maisie Lockwood, the clone daughter of Charlotte Lockwood, who’s Benjamin Lockwood’s daughter. Maisie is an important entity as an evil company wants her DNA to fix a big mess they created. Dr Ellie Sattler, Dr Alan Grant and Dr Ian Malcolm reunite to find the truth about this “big mess”.
When Maisie gets captured, Owen and Claire go on a mission to rescue her. That’s when all the characters come together. Wondering why I didn’t mention the dinosaurs yet? Well, they’re there in the film. But, the story jumps so quickly from one place to another, from one character to the other, that the dinos become side characters.

The missions for the main characters of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are laid out clearly in the first half. Hence, the makers fail to intrigue us with a story that will blow away our minds. The makers also added locusts attacks to their story in the franchise’s final film. But halfway through the film, you forget about them as the characters do.

Amid many flaws, some scenes will definitely keep you at the edge of your seat. A few dinosaurs chasing Owen and Claire give a good adrenaline rush. The sequence is shot nicely, and the sound effects create a dramatic effect. Similarly, an enormous fight during the climax is also compelling. But overall, the story has no depth. It’s all over the place and very on the surface.
Jurassic World Dominion not only does a disservice to the talented star cast with a weak script but also to the dinosaurs. Even when there’s too much tension on the screen, the characters feel restricted as there’s a hurry to complete the missions. Some scenes are abruptly edited, which breaks the continuity.
Jurassic World Dominion Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, the reunion of the old and the union of the new in a world full of massive, powerful dinosaurs fail to create an uproar. The background music and the growls and roars of the dinos succeed in creating a great sound. But the plot is chaotic. However, there’s not a single moment of boredom here. You stick till the end with the hope to see something more extraordinary. Instead, in the end, you ask yourself – what was the makers’ intention with the film as the plot lacks lustre and emotional connection. The dinosaurs deserve better.
The film releases in India on June 9, 2022. Book your tickets here.
