SEVENTEEN God of Music MV (음악의 신) released on October 23, 2023, along with the South Korean boy group’s eleventh mini album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, which has now helped the band members achieve yet another massive feat as they’ve recorded the highest pre-orders in K-pop history. Breaking records comes naturally to the PLEDIS Entertainment (HYBE Labels) K-pop act, and their new album’s titular track’s name also suggests the same.
With a colourful-sounding song, the titular video shows all SEVENTEEN members taking to the streets and awakening the summer spirit even though the hot season is long gone. Despite existing in a fictional world devoid of music, these 13 K-pop idols take it upon themselves to rebirth the origins of warm melodies with their perky attitude that fills the world with colours again. With music as their breath, the members spread the message of happiness through dancing and singing, reminding us again that all we have is now to find our version of happiness in the world.

The group’s leader, Scoups, hasn’t participated in the dance choreography due to his injury. Yet his presence was included in the video, countering CARATs’ (fanbase) initial fears of him not being in the music video. With his pink, cotton-candy hair, Scoups has made a cameo this time, leaving another reminder that nothing can tear the members away from their close-knit professional association with the SEVENTEEN brand.
God of Music has been composed by Woozi, with lyrics penned by him alongside Bumzu, S.coups, Mingyu and Vernon. With its carnivalesque sound, the soul-funk track exudes fun vibes and plays a catchy tune that instantly livens your mood in classic SEVENTEEN style. The song has the word “happiness” plastered, much like it will leave a smile on your face right after the first listen, along with a complementary video that radiates merriment.

The album consists of a total of 8 tracks – SOS, God of Music, Diamond Days, Back 2 Back (Performance Team), Monster(Hiphop Team), Yawn (Vocal Team), Headliner and the instrumental version of the lead single. As always, their eleventh EP feeds into their signature identity as the self-producing idol group, with all operations helmed by their member-cum-producer Woozi, alongside the South Korean record producer Bumzu, who’s often stepped in to work on SEVENTEEN’s music. As a special surprise, the American electronic music producer Marshmellow also appears on the album’s first track, SOS, followed by this comeback’s focus track.

As for the highest pre-orders record, this title was first held by JYP Entertainment’s boy group Stray Kids’s S-Class album, but now the SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN album pre-order numbers have surpassed the standard held by the former.
