Rebelde Season 2 Ending Explained

The eighth episode of Rebelde Season 2 titled Otro dia que va is darker than we anticipated it to be. After we see Gus push Luka off the roof in the previous episode because he got to know Gus’ tendency to get his artists addicted to drugs, the next episode takes us right to an unconscious Luka resting in the hospital. Of course, everyone is thinking that Luka committed Suicide and Okane, even blames Marcelo, Luka’s father for the drastic step his son has taken. But, soon enough, things about Gus start to bother Andi hard enough for her to go and do some serious digging.

Meanwhile, Esteban wins the music competition that becomes his free pass to perform at the Trend-Z awards. Although, it is Dixon who should have won. Turns out that due to Dixon’s deal with Gus, he now has to transfer out of EWS as he did not win the music competition. Esteban, who has been licking Gus’ shoes the entire semester isn’t happy about his win either.

Emilia returns to the campus to help Andi find out the truth about Gus and, although #Endi does not get a happy ending, we are just happy to see them together, right? Andi keeps texting Okane for a meet-up to find out about Gus but, gets ignored.

Esteban gets almost tortured by Gus during rehearsals for the Trend-Z awards. Later, we see Gus going to Luka’s hospital room and trying to open his phone. However, Okane wakes up from his nap just in time to shoo away Gus. He then gets access to Luka’s phone and reads his latest chat with Gus that proving it was Gus who has something to do with Luka’s accident.

Okane meets up with Andi, Emilia, Jana, Dixon and MJ spilling the beans about Gus. This is overheard by Sebas, who offers to help them by getting into the Trend-Z awards backstage from where they can get on the stage and call out Gus. The group believes him. However, later we see him cracking a deal with Gus, in exchange for getting to stay in EWS instead of moving to a Business School. Before the big call out, Jana tries to convince Esteban about Gus’ evil doings but, is unsuccessful.

At the awards night, Chava, Esteban’s father comes to see Esteban perform. He is disheartened to see his son take up the Colucci name, instead of keeping Torres for the concert. Meanwhile, the group tries to enter the award function but, their passes are denied. Sebas has betrayed them. Okane, due to his popularity, gets a chance to get in as a fan of his offers to take him to the award night. As for the others, they decide to use Twitter to call out Gus but, see that Gus is already trending due to a video he recorded with the help of Sebas about some unfounded rumours circulating about him.

Before Esteban’s performance, Okane gets a chance to meet him. He explains about Gus and, even shows the texts Luka sent to Gus before his fall, making Gus the clear culprit. He calls Esteban a coward for hiding in Gus’ shadow and leaves. Esteban receives a text from Jana saying,’I Know Who You Are’ before he heads for the stage. On the stage, Esteban clarifies his last name as Torres and then states how Gus Bauman is a murderer and leaves.

The group witnesses this event from the big screen outside the award function’s venue. A panicked Gus leaves backstage and grabs Okane. He tries to kill Okane but, Esteban gets to hear about it from his headset. He rushes to save Okane. However, when Gus insults Esteban’s father and his upbringing, he hits Gus, who falls off a flight of stairs and dies. Esteban is seeing handcuffed and taken away by the police soon after.

There is a mid-credits that arrive next when it is graduating day at EWS and Celina is again the principal. Sebas and Emilia and others graduate. The group seems at a better place now. Dixon and MJ are together. Luka and Okane are seen talking. Things are normal between Jana and Esteban too. But, someone comes in rushing to inform them that Okane is being arrested for Gus’ death. Esteban runs with Jana but, is stopped by Marcelo.

In a flashback, it is revealed that Esteban traded his innocence and bail by putting Okane behind the bars. Marcelo gives Esteban a look. Marcelo says, ‘A Colucci always protects their own.’ Jana witnessed this and understands that Esteban hasn’t changed at all.
