Ranma ½ 2024 Episode 8 Recap

Ranma ½ 2024 Episode 9 Review

Akane can’t seem to catch a break, as she now finds herself fighting for Ryoga, who winds up in yet another bizarre situation. While in his pig form, Ryoga accompanies Akane to an ice-skating rink, where an overly enthusiastic woman snatches him away, dubbing him “Charlotte.” This woman turns out to be Azusa, one-half of a martial skating duo. Azusa has an uncontrollable obsession with anything she deems cute, and once she sets her sights on something—even something as trivial as a fish cake—she feels compelled to claim it.

When Akane confronts Azusa about stealing P-Chan, Azusa challenges her to a skating duel, with Ryoga as the prize. Meanwhile, Azusa’s partner, Mikado, takes an interest in Akane and attempts to charm her, prompting Ranma to step into the fray. Together, Ranma and Akane must face off against the formidable martial skating duo in a competition that combines skating skills with martial arts. However, before they can even think of winning, they must train—something easier said than done, as while Akane skates competently, Ranma is hopeless on the ice.

Determined to improve, Ranma transforms into his girl form to practice with Akane. Unfortunately, this decision leads to one of the most mortifying moments of his life. Mikado, ever the shameless flirt, sets his sights on Ranma’s female form and doesn’t hesitate to make his move. But instead of stopping at a harmless advance, Mikado crosses the line, taking Ranma’s first kiss, that too, in front of Akane.

Ranma ½ 2024 Episode 9 Review

We had another really good episode where we saw Akane and Ranma fight against the golden couple Mikado and Azusa. At first, Ryoga wanted to join the battle himself but was stopped by Ranma, who turned him into a pig before he could participate. On the other hand, we saw Mikado admiring himself in front of a mirror and being a creep. Ranma finds him, and in a heated exchange of words, Mikado professors that this time, he plans to capture the lips of Akane.

Ranma definitely will not let this happen, and he vows to crush him before he can get close to Akane. The battle thus begins, and the golden couple show extreme dexterity in their ability to glide through the skating rink while our couple struggle. However, when it comes to sheer strength, Ranma manages to land some pretty hard hits on Mikado, as it is certain that he is mad at him.

Ranma ½ 2024 Episode 9 Review

The battle becomes intense, and even when we have seen something like this before, this ice skating challenge still manages to have its own interesting moments. It is apparent from the way Ranma behaves that he is very much in love with Akane but is too proud to say it. Throughout the battle, Mikado tries to steal Akane’s lips, and every time, Ranma crushes his chances.

Even when Mikado and Azusa pull off their couple-crushing move, Ranma shows just how protective he can be by not letting go of Akane’s hands at any cost and taking a huge hit in her stead. Hilarity increases when Ryoga joins the battle, and chaos ensues.

Verdict

Ranma ½ 2024 Episode 9 Review

Today, we had another very entertaining and well-written episode that gives you everything you can ask for. It has slapstick comedy, cute romance and nicely choreographed action. Mikado’s voice actor also provides ample comedy with his funny comments and expressions. You are definitely missing out if you are not watching this anime.
