With six seasons already in the bag, the news of Outlander Season 7 is a delightful way for the fans to start their day. Quite a few of your former favorites on the show are also making their highly anticipated return to Starz’s steamy historical drama that began its journey in 2014.
The sixth season aired on March 6, 2022. Within the short span of a few months, the cast of the upcoming season, which will be based on the seventh book of the series by Diana Gabaldon, An Echo in the Bone, has already been announced. This particular outing is set to have 16 episodes.

Netflix’s official synopsis of the show reads:
This epic tale adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s popular series of fantasy-romance novels focuses on the drama of two time-crossed lovers.

Outlander Season 7 Cast
Several most sought-after actors of the series are returning for the new season after having made their grand impact on the fans. The ones reprising their roles from the previous installments include Graham McTavish playing Dougal MacKenzie, who’s currently seen alongside the House of the Dragon cast members. Andrew Whipp will be playing Brian Fraser, Steven Cree as Ian Murray, Lotte Verbeek as Geillis Duncan, and Nell Hudson as Laoghaire MacKenzie.

Others who’ve been announced as the cast members are Layla Burns as Joan Mackimmie, Kristin Atherton as Jenny Murray, Chris Fulton as Rob Cameron, Gloria Obianyo as Mercy Woodcock, and Rod Hallett as Benedict Arnold. Outlander is profusely invested in time travel throughout its course. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts even went on to remark that this aspect of their project allows them to “revisit some of our favorite characters in different times and places”, hence the return of many familiar faces for the new season.
Focussing on the book series, the forthcoming extended season will bring in a lot of new aspects to the storyline, while also bringing back some characters who died previously, like Brian Fraser and Douglas Mackenzie.
