Oshi No Ko Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

This episode offers a deep dive into Kana’s perspective, shedding light on the struggles she faces in her life. Alongside this, we witness Aqua confronting his own panic attacks and how they continue to impact him.

It opens with Kana reflecting on how she has deliberately taken a step back while others pursue the spotlight. Even Taiki notices this and asks her about it, but he also reassures her that he will support her in any way he can. Taking the initiative, Taiki steps up, leading to a confrontation with Aqua. This marks the first time Aqua faces a real challenge from an actor whose overwhelming talent poses a serious threat.

Taiki is an actor who wears his emotions on his sleeve, exposing his raw vulnerability to the audience. When confronted with such a seasoned performer, Aqua—who is not used to emotional acting—realizes that he cannot match Taiki in this way. Instead, Aqua devises a new strategy, opting for a cold and emotionless portrayal, effectively counterbalancing Taiki’s intense performance, at least temporarily.

Meanwhile, we get a glimpse into Kana’s traumatic childhood. Her mother’s overbearing influence has loomed large in her life, especially when she became obsessively fixated on Kana’s rise to stardom—and its eventual decline. This pressure forced Kana to adapt by becoming an actor who was easy to work with, just to survive in the industry.

In the next episode, we might see Aqua being aggressive and showcasing his bold acting skills. He will definitely overpower everyone, but Taiki will not let that slide. Taiki should soon recover from this and match Aqua’s pace. Others should also recover from their surprise and continue their acting.
