No Good Deed follows the story of three families who hope to buy a house, hoping it will end all their troubles. However, what they don’t know is that the house they are trying to buy holds secrets that have already disrupted the lives of a family that was once filled with joy. Years later, the house goes on sale but the mystery begins to unravel itself.
The show stars Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano, Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, Poppy Liu, Teyonah Parris, and Luke Wilson. It is directed by Liz Feldman and is eight episodes long, with each being 30 minutes long approximately.
No Good Deed Ending Explained
The plot begins with the Morgan family putting their family home for sale with three very intriguing buyers eyeing the property. As we look into who these buyers are, we also see the disoriented couple who are in a hurry to sell their house due to financial difficulties and a past that made them this way. Soon, their past begins to reveal itself as we see people connected to the tragedy that struck their family come back.
Meanwhile, one of the buyers, who is a prosecutor for the DA finds something odd about the house and begins looking into the family living there. She soon finds out what happened in the house three years back when their son Jacob died and gets involved more than she expected to.
What Happened in the Morgan House Three Years Back?
It is revealed that the Morgan family’s son- Jacob, was killed in a burglary incident three years back. While the killer was never caught, we find out that the family intentionally hid evidence all these years because they knew the real identity of the killer. For three years, they believed that the person who killed their son was none other than their daughter Emily, who shot the gun that night when a masked man entered the house. The man was none other than her brother.
Who Really Killed Jacob?
When Leslie Fisher, the prosecutor and potential buyer of the house, looks into the case, she opens Jacob’s autopsy while feigning to be Lydia’s lawyer. She soon finds out that the gun used in the killing belonged to the Morgan family’s neighbour JD Campbell. When Lydia finds out that there are two bullet shells from the night of the incident, she insists on opening the autopsy for her son, only to find out that Leslie has already to them before her.
The next day, she rushes to Leslie’s house and finds out that the gun that killed her son is not the one that was in Emily’s hand. She finds JD Campbell’s connection to the murder and later when he comes to their house to get his daughter. When Emily tries to take her away from the argument on the pretext of playing Jacob’s keyboard, she tells them that Jacob only gave her one lesson and later would come to meet Margo, JD’s wife.
This shocks everyone as Lydia rushes to Margo while Paul confronts the man. JD is shocked by this and tells him about his lying wife who must be connected to this. Meanwhile, Lydia finally finds out that it was Margo all along, who killed her son, Margo had been in a secret relationship with Jacob and when he tried to escape from her with everything he bought her, she chased him and finally killed him.
She knew that it was her who killed the boy, but when she saw Emily holding the gun through the window, she escaped from there and pretended to never be there.
Who Bought the House in the End?
While Margo and JD’s deal falls through, Paul decides to sell the house to Sarah and Dennis. However, when Leslie’s wife Sarah finds out that the Morgans have chosen Carla and Dennis to buy the house, she makes use of the fact that Carla is her patient and reveals the truth about the house. This makes them back away from buying the house, and finally, it is them who get to buy the house. The final scene reveals them preparing Jacob’s room for their soon-to-be-born son.
