Nice to Not Meet You Episode 2 Recap

After a disastrous and painful fall down the stairs with his dignity, Hyeon-jung finds himself depressed thanks to all the memes that come out of the incident. Meanwhile, Jeong-sin joins the entertainment desk and is clearly unhappy about it, but Yun Hwa-yeong refuses to take her nasty attitude and asks her to do an exceptional job or look for employment elsewhere.

As Hyeon-jung desperately tries to stop replying to the same role over and over again, hoping to find a melodrama to work on, Jeong-sin finds herself battling a sea of rabid fans of a K-pop idol as she is instructed to cover is arrival in South Korea. Unfortunately, she doesn’t land the footage but does become close to Lee Jae-hyeong in the chaos.

Later, Jeong-sin goes to interview Hyeon-jung when she realises that he’s a big star, and Hyeon-jung takes her arrival quite badly and insults her thoroughly. In the end, he has to apologise for his outburst in a hilarious twist. She then proceeds to ask him some very piercing questions that leave him thoroughly uncomfortable, but it’s Hyeon-jung who gets the last laugh and leaves her insulted. As a result, she decides to dig into his life and find as much dirt as possible to destroy his reputation and get revenge.

Her post about his alleged old relationship with a co-star lands her in trouble at an interview, and after that, the two start to go after each other relentlessly to show them their place. Of course, it doesn’t result in anything good, and Hyeon-jung is eventually dragged to apologise to Jeong-sin and end the war. He, however, digs his heels in, effectively escalating the fight. In the end, Hwa-yeong asks Jeong-sin to learn about Hyeon-jung deeper to truly make a dent in his reputation, and she decides to do just that.

She goes through all the parts of Hyeon-jung’s movies that leave her oddly obsessed, while Hyeon-jung desperately tries to find a way to work other than doing the detective series, but comes up empty-handed and damaged reputation. The next morning, Jeong-sin finds herself soaring after binge-watching so many movies as Hyeon-jeong appears in front of her, leaving her breathless!

This show is thoroughly unhinged, and I am enjoying every moment of it till now. Episode 2 is hilarious and goes from one extreme to the next as two grown adults bicker like school children to get what they want. There’s not much plot progression as it’s all mostly childish antics, but I am enjoying it regardless, as a light-hearted entertainer and nothing more.
