Newtopia Episode 6 Recap
The episode opens with the viewers learning that Arron Park is still alive. Surviving on a ton of alcohol and covering himself head to head in pillows, the man tiptoes around zombies with a huge sword in hand. Meanwhile, the surviving soldiers mourn the loss of Sergeant Jung and Jae-yoon asks Young-man to stay strong in these trying times. Arron Park, meanwhile, seems to be taking all this like a video game and is using a nail gun to kill zombies in his way.

On the street, Young-joo and Jin-wook fall into traffic as emergency rescue services start, putting traffic to a standstill. After some rowdy survivors attack them and steal their truck, the pair head to the subway and decide to take the train to Suseo while the soldiers, in the elevator on their way out of the hotel, come across Arron Park. In the subway, the ensuing chaos causes people to break the protective barrier and spill into the tracks causing a horrifying tragedy. Back at the hotel, the soldiers decide to leave Arron behind after noticing the bite on his leg but before they can make their exit, blood starts to spill from the top of the elevator car as zombies rain down.
Back at the station, the remaining people are able to get on the train and, at the last moment, Young-joo gives up her place to a young boy but just as the train departs, she spots a zombie in one of the cars and is left distraught. After the train departs, we see the bloody remains of the people who got killed under the train and focus on Jin-wook’s watch, indicating that he died in the stampede as well. Just then, the old woman gets agitated by his grandson’s death and attacks Young-joo, eventually getting down on the tracks to find him. When Young-joo tries to stop her, she is almost hit by another train and then has to fend off the old woman once more who has now turned into a zombie. Eventually, she kills the zombie by pushing its head into the departing train and then goes into a room within the train tunnel.

Back at the hotel, Arron Park realises that the zombies are not biting him, while the others run to safety from the herd. As they regroup, Young-joo makes her way through the maze of halls underneath the subway and finds herself in an empty room where she charges her phone and tends to her wounds. That is also where she finds a chainsaw. At the hotel, finding an opportunity, Gye-young proposes to Soo-jeong while Arron Park tells Jae-yoon to use the vents in the room to make their way downstairs, while he guides them. Of course, both Young-joo and Jae-yoon face zombies in their path and must now make their way out in one piece.
Newtopia Episode 6 Review

This one was a heavy episode for sure, giving us a piece of the death and destruction caused by human beings when the going gets tough. Of course, the hotel shenanigans were entertaining but the reality on the streets that Young-joo faces is heartbreaking, to say the least. Blackpink’s Jisoo is fantastic in this episode and will make you root for her throughout as she now goes on this journey to survival alone. Plus, we see a different side to her other than just being the female character. I think the series showcases the women quite well, with both Young-joo and Soo-jeong being capable women who don’t get frazzled too easily. All in all, Newtopia is getting a bit better day by day.
