My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The episode opens with a reflective monologue from Koichi. He explains what vigilante heroes are and how they operate, offering a solid and natural introduction to the setting of this spin-off.
The plot kicks off with Koichi and Pop Step travelling to Osaka, where Pop Step is scheduled to take part in a collaboration with local idols. During the trip, an unexpected incident leads Koichi to uncover a new dimension of his quirk. He realises that he can regulate the force he applies through his arms and legs, allowing him to glide, manoeuvre more smoothly, and even cling to surfaces. This discovery significantly expands the versatility of his abilities and hints at new ways he might use them going forward.

The episode also introduces a younger Fat Gum, who is shown apprehending a criminal and crossing paths with Koichi and Pop Step. He is unaware that their paths will intersect again under far more dangerous circumstances. Fat Gum is preparing for a large-scale drug crackdown at a shopping mall, which coincidentally is also the venue for Pop Step’s upcoming performance. As a result, Koichi and Pop Step are on the verge of being dragged into a situation far bigger than they anticipated.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 Episode 2 Review

The episode begins, and we see the police officers making a plan to apprehend drug suppliers who utilise the mall as their base for their work. Kaniko manages to infiltrate their warehouse and see the workers transferring products. She theorises that, as the company uses boxes to sell a variety of things, they can easily smuggle drugs without anyone knowing. Here, she even manages to get her hands on a package with drugs in it. But someone else finds her.
This mystery man first acted as a delivery boy, but then Kaniko refused to believe his trick, and he showcased his true identity. He’s a villain who quickly takes away Kaniko’s gun, but before he could hurt her, the officers come to the rescue. However, he somehow manages to let the crab mech run wild, and they go on to attack Fat Gum. While this was happening, the mystery man destroyed all the evidence of drugs that was inside the trucks.

On the other hand, Pop Step is in a grave situation because she is also inside one of the crab mechs. At the same time, the police officers tried to apprehend the villain, but at that very moment, he utilised his speed to not only save himself but also shoot the police officers. Back at the mall, the situation becomes too dire, but Fat Gum handles it with his body, and he again saves the day.
Though the situation was under control, this could have become a huge mess had Fat Gum not been present. Koichi and Pop Step also escape at the right moment before things could have gone south. I have a feeling that this new villain is going to be very important in the future.

Verdict
I liked today’s episode because it showed some nice action sequences. But I also feel that this season is not as engaging as the first one. The pacing is pretty slow compared to what we saw previously, and I really think that for better results, they should work on the storytelling a bit more.
