Moving In With Malaika Episode 1 Review: Dealing With Life Online And Offline

Moving In With Malaika is a new reality show that will centre around actress, model, dancer and VJ Malaika Arora. Created by Malaika herself, along with Banijay Asia, the show will give us an exclusive and up-close look at the life of the Indian celebrity. Moving in With Malaika episode 1 has a runtime of 29 minutes.

The actress rose to fame for her appearance in the famous Bollywood song Chaiyan Chaiyan from the movie Dil Se.. along with Shah Rukh Khan. She has been in the public eye ever since, and her divorce from Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salmaan Khan, is one of the most talked about instances around the town. She has also been a victim of internet trolls following her dating news with Arjun Kapoor.

Hence, she has decided to take matters into her own hands and create a show that will show her true self.

Disney+ Hotstar description of the show reads:

ALL set to showcase her true self, Malaika will shut down trolls in her quintessential Arora style as she opens up about her life

-Moving In With Malaika Episode 1 Review Contains No Spoilers-

The episode opens with Malaika introducing herself and what the show will be about. She explains how she has been judged her entire life and wants to show people her real self. She wants the people to know that she is not what the tabloids describe and give us a glimpse of her private life.

Celebrities like Neha Dhupia, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Arjun Kapoor spoke about her in a small monologue to support her new journey. Her son, Arhaan Khan, also appears, encouraging her to open up about her life and experiences. It was wholesome and showed the audience how loved she was.

Later in the episode, we see Farah Khan, Bollywood’s renowned choreographer and director, visiting Malaika. It was an interview-style introductory segment where Malaika opened up about events in her life, including the life-threatening accident she met earlier this year. Her trauma, fears and hesitation from the incident were still raw and could be seen through her emotions.

She was also narrating about the incidents in the background, giving us a more detailed explanation. It could be noticed that she was trying to open up and let us into her life, so she is no longer misunderstood. A peek inside her daily routine and work life was also seen, where things got a little tense at the end.

The music score was done incredibly well and will keep the audience engaged. The outfits, set, and makeup was also top-notch.

Moving In With Malaika Episode 1: Final Thoughts

The episode was an introductory one, mainly an overview of what the show was going to be about. It did try to remain as real as possible, but the scripted scenes did not go unnoticed. A few scenes were calculated and thought out, which took out the reality aspect of it and left the viewers disappointed.

There was no big revelation or remotely anything exciting about the episode. The conversations felt composed and penned down to remain neutral, which was also a letdown. The first episode so far did not deliver what it was expected to. It was far away from displaying anything real about the artist.

  1. Its scripted. Nothing authentic copy of Hollywood. Reality shows show real life not full glam all the time and cut out conversations.

  2. I really like Mallaika and it’s sad to see her feature in such a horrendous scripted show in the name of reality. I wish she had a better story line and director
