Mayfair Witches Episode 1 Review

Mayfair Witches Episode 1 opens with a scene of a doctor visiting an old woman. We get to know that he is the newly appointed doctor to the 47-year-old lady and is supposed to give her a Thorazine shot. However, taking a look at his patient and the environment she is in prompts him to review her reports before he starts the daily procedure. 2000 miles away, another story blooms with our central protagonist coming into the scene.

We meet Rowan Fielding, a talented neurosurgeon living on a boat with her only family being her adoptive mother. It does not take us much time to know that she is good at what she does but, faces unsolicited pressure now and then from her senior doctor in charge. So when Rowan discovers that her adoptive mother’s cancer is back, she seeks her superior’s help only to be insulted in a sharp way causing her to unknowingly kill him. You ask how? Well, with her mind, of course, prompting her to suspect that the life she is leading might not be everything that there is to her.

At the far end of the episode, we witness another storyline. We meet Deirdre Mayfair- a young woman desperate to escape the harsh life that her aunt makes her live. She is also seemingly in love with a man named Lasher, who clearly her aunt does not approve of. Thus, rolls on Mayfair Witches Episode 1 that weaves the tale intricately enough to make connections between the three running storylines and offer us something unexpected by the end.

Mayfair Witches Episode 1 Ending

Mayfair Witches Episode 1 ends with the doctor that we see at the start of the episode removing a necklace off of his patient as the scratches on her chest reveal that she might have been trying to get it off. The doctor calls the woman Deirdre Mayfair and tells her that he will not give her the shot from now on to see who she is behind all the medication that keeps her still.

On the other end, we see Rowan wake up from her sleep late at night due to some noise. In a flash, she sees Lasher on her deck before the man disappears.

Mayfair Witches Episode 1: Final Thoughts

Overall, Mayfair Witches Episode 1 has set an interesting ground for the series to start. The way the narrative was laid out in the first episode was really gripping and easily invested us in. The use of dark and neutral colours aided the grim storyline the show might be aiming for. However, in the long term, better music and acting from the cast would only make the show stand out. For now, it is at a good place with its beginning.

  1. WTF??? i tought this was a witch tv show…

I’m 30 in the 1 episode and I’m bored to death, she’s like a normal women that do normal stuff than a normal person,

Its looks like so far she’s just using her power to get men to bed, yup SEX SCENES BUT NOTHING SHOWS, FULL CHLOTES ON IN BED, WHO DIES THAT, SEX TWICE NOW…SILLY WASTE OF TIME SCENES,

If the rest are like that i will sacrifice myself to the devil, hell is better than most stuff netflix spews out this days.

So far nothing else that i want too stick a fork in my eyes, nothing special that make me watch anymore,

Where is the withches??? Could she do a bit magic soon i hope….

I could watch the mascarade party, hate those…the bad love stuff and pointless talking….not exciting…*plugging my ears*…

  2. Sooo very dark and gloomy its hard to see sometimes, she meets alot of unknown people who’s say I’m here to help her…then ends up dead,

A demon that sits with her in a dark room always, holding her trapped in her head in the real world,

Anyway its alot of back and forth to the past and its snaps back to the moderne day, i have now seen 2 episodes and is confused of what going on,

Please tell me its going to be epic fights or magical creatures that would been cool….

Why does wear a boring black suits, they could had something fantasy chlotes or something that is not human…

For now slow and boring stuff…
