MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 13 Review: After anticipating for months, the show premiered its fifteenth season with wonderful home cooks ready to win the grand title. On the judge’s panel, we have the previous season’s professional chefs, Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, and late Jock Zonfrillo, back on the set to taste and deliver excellent critics. Surprisingly, it doesn’t stop with them because other professionals like Jamie Oliver will also be making cameos to test the contestants with their best.
The participating contestants are Adi Nevgi, Alice Han, Amy Tanner, Andrea Puglisi, Antonio Cruz Vaamonde, Brent Draper, Cath Collins, Declan Cleary, Grace Jupp, Jessica Perri, Larissa Sewell, Malissa Fedele, Phil Conway, Ralph Kahango, Rhiannon Anderson, Robbie Cooper, Rue Mupedzi and Theo Loizou.

As usual, the contestants came to the main hall but it was empty. No judges, no utensils, no stoves—except for a letter. After hesitation, Adi picked up the letter, opened it up, and read out to the group about the biggest serve challenge. The contestants left the hall and reached their destination, Grazeland.
Grazeland is one of Australia’s biggest food courts where 50+ shop outlets are there to fulfill every customer’s desires. The contestants knew that they were up for a big challenge and they went inside with confidence. The judges greeted them and asked them to big an apron from a bag randomly. Some of them got the turquoise shade while the rest took yellow but Malissa picked up the white-shaded apron. What does this mean?

The judges announced that Malissa will have to pick one team to back up and that she won’t be cooking. Before she chose the team, the judges told her about the day’s challenge. Each team must prepare two dishes: turf and surf for thousands of people. The number of people flabbergasted the team but they prepared to face it. The contestants were given five hours to prepare the two dishes.

Coming back to Malissa, she chose the yellow team consisting of Brent, Theo, Antonio, Alice, Rhiannon, and Rue. Then on, the timer started, and the teams went to their respective places to discuss. The turquoise team (Adi, Robbie, Declan, Phil, Grace, Amy, and Cath) decided to with a Thai Beef salad and Fish red cry. On the other hand, the Yellow team chose Chilli Mussels and Pork Belly with Rice.

Judges Joined the Teams and Cooked
During the preparation, the contestants didn’t manage time well because Declan almost spent 2.5 hours only cutting the fish. Judge Andy Allen gave his output straightforwardly pointing out that Declan can’t be wasting time on doing just one job in a group work. Meanwhile, Jock went to check with the Yellow team and adviced that the team has to start cleaning the mussels because the remaining time isn’t sufficient to finish the dish.
Even after sharing the suggestions, both the teams were falling back on time so Jock and Andy joined their respective teams and worked with them. This is the first time I saw judges making food with the contestants to give them a push. Their gesture was so sweet and they kept their calm. They didn’t yell or discourage but kept giving hints and hacks to the contestants. Honestly seeing Andy and Jock cook professionally was so wholesome.

The Results
Thankfully the teams winded up with their dishes on time and prepared 400-plus plates of dishes for the first hour. The teams also presented their dishes to the judges and they tasted them. From their feedback, it was figured that team Turquoise has won the challenge. After hours, both teams took a rest and awaited the results.
Firstly the teams thanked Andy and Jock for their help. Then the results were announced that Turquoise won the challenge and they will be participating in the next day’s immunity pin challenge.
MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 13 Review: Final Thoughts

The challenge was indeed massive and troublesome but the contestants really pulled it off well. The best part of this episode is definitely Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo helping the teams and not being biased while giving feedback. Seeing late Jock being so warm, kind, and helpful really made me miss the amazing chef.
