The episode is titled ‘MasterClass: Jock Zonfrillo, Andy Allen and the Final Four’ and is 48 minutes long. MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 59 Recap Contains Spoilers

In this episode of MasterChef Australia, we experience the final MasterClass of the season. Jock and Andy are put in the contestants’ shoes as they stand beside Mel to judge the food the experts are going to put forward. It is an invention test where Jock and Andy have to reinvent a classic pub dish.

Mel provides Andy and Jock with a list of dishes to pick which features Chicken Parma, Salt & Pepper Calamari, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, Chicken Caesar Salad, Steak Special, Burger & Fries, Roast of the Day and Pub Pie. Andy decides to do a Chicken Parma whereas Jock’s pick is the Steak Special. The pantry and the garden are, of course, open and so are feedbacks and jokes from the contestants throughout the episode.

Jock is the reigning champion of the MasterClass challenge but, that just gives Andy the edge to perform better and take the mantle for himself. As the judges cook, the contestants judge and it is a fun and educative segment to be a part of.

After the cooking spectacle is over, Andy’s dish comes up to the table first and it is a Fermented Chilli and Tomato-Glazed Whole Chicken with Chicken & Bacon Sauce, a Pangrattato with Crispy Guanciale and some Parmigiano-Reggiano. The dish receives good reviews and Daniel nails the part where he talks about Andy’s dish, just the way Andy judges the contestants in the MasterChef kitchen.

Next on the table is Jock’s dish which is a Steak Special with Pepper Sauce. The twist in the dish is that it is a Potato Steak with Wagyu Chips. The dish gets praise from all the contestants and Daniel does his little extra touch to keep the segment upbeat and hilarious. Ultimately it is Jock’s dish that wins the challenge and, Jock Zonfrillo remains the reigning champion in the kitchen.

In the next segment of the show, we see the contestants go against the judges head to head in a delicious challenge- a three-course battle! Each team is asked to pick their feature ingredients and Mel is the one who will be picking the third, much like the classic challenges we have seen in MasterChef Australia.

But, given there are four contestants and two judges, the team needs to be a little more balanced, which is why Sarah sits out of the challenge alongside Mel. Alvin joins the ladies from the gantry as the third judge for the brewing competition. From the pantry, Jock and Andy pick honey as their feature ingredient, followed by Billie, Daniel and Keyma picking watermelon which Andy hates! Mel picks a pork shoulder as the third feature ingredient.

After a fun and raging battle, contestants are the first to put their dish forward. The course consists of a Watermelon Aguachile with Scallop and Coconut Granita followed by a Rum Pig and Smoke Cabbage and Honey Sandwiches with Charred Pineapple Compote. It is a hit menu for Mel, Alvin and Sarah and they praise each and every contestant for their efforts.

Jock and Andy bring in their three-course meal next and visually it is stunning. It features a Watermelon & Feta Salad, a Spit Roasted Pork Shawarma and Burnt Honey and Paperbark Creme Brulee. The judges too nail their dishes. However, when it comes down to judging it a tough call as the dessert in both the course lacked something or the other.

But, ultimately as the Creme Brulee by Andy and Jock hit the brief better than Sarah’s Honey Sandwiches, the two win this challenge against the contestants.
