The owner of Sunda Dining in Melbourne, Khanh Nguyen is the one dialling up the heat in the kitchen in this episode of MasterChef Australia Season 14. The culinary expert presents his seafood platter in the kitchen for the pressure test contestants to replicate. The synopsis of the episode reads, “Chef Khanh Nguyen reveals his seafood plate for today’s Pressure Test, and there are 99 ingredients, 143 steps and 13 pages in the recipe!”

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 47 Recap Contains Spoilers

In MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 47, Khanh walks us through his dish. It consists of oysters, spanner crabs, shark bay scallops, scampi and storm bay clamps, all dipped in perfect native and unique taste. According to Khanh, the major pressure point of the dish is the fact that all the seafood elements are cooked very differently and to their taste.

The carb and the oysters are cooked in the way that you can pick them off the shell, the scallops are slightly seared, the scampi is cooked medium-rare and, there is not too much cooking going on in the clamps. The guest chef in the house sets off the timer for our contestants to get to cooking immediately. The time given to replicate the dish is two and a half hours.

Just like every pressure test, the dish that least resembles Khanh in presentation and taste will be eliminated from the competition. However, with 99 ingredients stuffed in a 13-page recipe pamphlet, it is going to be one hard day for the contestants to get through.

As the competition boils down, the contestants struggle with getting all the elements right. Soon enough the struggle is over as tasting starts. Mindy’s dish is the first one up for tasting. The judges really liked the cook of the seafood. According to Khanh, Mindy’s plate is the closest one can get to replicating his dish. As for Jock, his highlight on Mindy’s plate was the Scampi.

Next up is Aldo. His dish consists of both hits and misses. The scallops and the clamps shine in the dish, although the crabs do not do so much. Montana brings in her dish at last. The clamps and the scallops are undercooked in the dish, even though the crab and the rice cracker are really good. However, Andy’s oysters had shells on them and, it is a mistake that really took the judges back because it was the same mistake that landed Montana in the pressure test in the first place.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 47: Who Gets Eliminated?

Mindy’s dish receives downright praise but, as for Aldo and Montana, both of their dishes lacked something or the other. Ultimately, it is Montana who gets eliminated in MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 47.
