MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 41 Recap Contains Spoilers

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 41 presents the contestants with the hardest mystery box that there can be. It is a MasterChef classic i.e., the everything mystery box. This means that whatever ingredient is present underneath the mystery box, the cooks have to use them all to prepare an unbeatable dish.

In the box, the contestants find A2 milk, swordbelt mushroom, green peppercorn, shio koji, Tommy ruff, Freekeh and watercress. We have Farmer Carlo walk in with another box in contains the last ingredient of the mystery box- Carisma Potatoes! The total time given to the contestants is 60 minutes to cook any dish they like using all the mystery box ingredients.

It is a very difficult challenge for all the cooks in the kitchen as half the ingredients they are presented with isn’t something they are familiar with. For instance, Billie and Tommy have never cooked with a Tommy Ruff and as for Keyma, she has not even heard of Shio Koji and Freekeh. So, as the clock ticks, the challenge gets intense as everyone runs to put their best foot forward.

Ultimately when it is time for tasting, Julie brings her dish in first. Julie’s dish is called Gnocchi with The Lot and it is one beautiful dish where all the ingredients have come together perfectly. Tommy’s dish is up next which is a Poached Tommy Ruff with a Fish Broth, Shio Koji Mushrooms and Watercress Oil. It is a magical dish with the right touch of everything.

Fish Pie with Mashed Potatoes and Green Sauce by Billie is another delicious dish in this challenge that receives praise. Daniel presents a Shio Koji Tommy Ruff with Potato Skin Chips and a Butter Sauce. Although the Freekah did not make it on his plate, the dish is a good one. Alvin’s Fried Fish with Potatoes cooked Two Ways and a Freekah Salad is another good dish but, not the best.

Everything Broth with Tommy Ruff is Montana’s dish and the dish is clearly not a favourite with undercooked elements, although the fish was done brilliantly. Crispy Fish with Watercress Puree by Aldo is another cracking dish in the challenge. Mindy’s Tommy Ruff Fish and Chips get a good call. Sarah calls her dish Loaded Carisma which is a fully loaded Fish Potato that the judges love immediately. Poached Fish Salad and Crispy Potatoes by Keyma is a luxurious dish.
