It first round is a taste test that includes getting the popcorn flavour right just by eating it.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 39 Recap Contains Spoilers

There are 37 different flavours of popcorn presented to the contestants. They are going to have to taste the popcorn and guess the flavour. The judges warn off that the flavours at the start are pretty easy but, with time, the taste palette is going to get difficult. The participants draw themselves a number by drawing it out of the bag.

We start with Montana, Alvin, Daniel, Sarah, Mindy and Aldo. The tastes get harder and weirder with the increasing numbers. Ultimately, we have three people securing themselves a place to compete for immunity and that includes Montana, Sarah and Daniel. Moving on to the second half of the challenge the three cooks are asked to prepare another movie classic- a choc top!

Montana clearly has an edge as the challenge begins as she has always been good with desserts. Daniel is initially clueless about what he wants to cook but, later on, he figures out a way as he cooks his dish. For Sarah, the choc top competition seems to bring out old wounds as it was a choc top challenge that actually got her eliminated in her respective season. However, the cooks manage to get their A-game on the table and cook away to secure a position in the top ten.

When it comes to tasting, Montana brings up her choc top first. It is a Brown Butter & Fig Choc Top with Chocolate Dip and Maple Roasted Macadamias. The judges love the dish as it is flavourful, nice and lovely looking! Next up is Sarah who brings her dish to the table and it is a Mango Swirl Choc Top inspired by Kulfi. It has Cardamon Ice Cream with Mango Swirl through Chocolate Chips on the outside and Pistachios. Sarah’s redemption dish is a brilliant one as everything comes together and works well to give it a perfect A.

Daniel is the last one with his presentation and he calls his choc top You’re Bacon Me Go Nuts. It is a peanut butter ice cream with peanut buttercup cubes, Bacon in the ice cream folded through with shards of toffee. The interaction while tasting the dish is fun as Daniel is hilarious in his explanation. The flavours of the dish turned out to be excellent and the judges clearly like it a lot.
