Masterchef Australia Season 13 Episode 27 Review: Blind Pressure Test

Masterchef Australia Season 13 Episode 27 was the Pressure Test challenge where four contestants have to give their best. Whoever fails the challenge has to say goodbye to the cooking show. The four contestants who have to battle it out are Sabina, Eric, Scott and Brent. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo announce to the contestants that this will not be a regular pressure test elimination.

After bringing back the Invention Test challenge in the previous MasterChef Australia Season 13 episode, the judges shocked the contestants with a twist in the latest episode. It is going to be a Blind Pressure Test challenge! The judges invite chef Clinton McIver. Clinton brings along a dish which the four contestants have to recreate to save themselves.

Now coming to the twist of MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 27 in detail, the contestants will not get to see Clinton’s dish Aged Lamb with Native Spiced Butter and Flowering Legumes. Instead, they will be blindfolded and have to touch and eat the dish to understand its taste and texture. Then, the four contestants have to recreate the lamb dish in three hours.

Sabina says that during Jock’s Pressure Test featuring tarts in one of MasterChef Australia episodes, she learnt that being calm always helps. So for today’s dish, she decides to remain calm and under control so that nothing goes wrong. Eric wears his lucky pants to save himself from the elimination and make the best dish. He reveals that he left his final year medical exam to be a part of MasterChef.

Brent and Scott are worried about their dish, but they make sure not to ruin anything and give their best. When we think everything is going well, Eric is shattered to know that he removed all the fat from his lamb piece. The fat was an important element to add crispiness to the dish. Jock tells him that he has two choices – to give up or keep going on and make the rest of the dish right.

The clock’s ticking fast in the MasterChef kitchen, and in no time, 3 hours are over. Judges Andy, Mel, Jock, and Clinton McIver taste the dishes. Sabina’s dish looks good, and in her own words, it doesn’t look like a twin to Clinton’s dish but a sister. Well, I agree. In terms of look, Brent’s dish is nowhere close to Clinton’s lamb dish. But the cook and flavours are on point.

Scott’s dish also resembles the chef’s Aged Lamb with Native Spiced Butter and Flowering Legumes a little bit. His cook on the lamb is also good, but his onion gel is grainy. Eric’s dish looks as good as Clinton’s, but his lamb isn’t well-cooked, and there’s no fat adding crispiness to the dish. Due to some major flaws, at the end of MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 27, judges reveal that Eric has to bid goodbye to the show. Eric is the tenth contestant of season 13 to get eliminated so far.
