MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 14 Review: The Best Odd Pair Wins

MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 14 was another enthralling immunity challenge. In the previous episodes, contestants Therese, Conor, Depinder, Kishwar and Dan impressed the judges in the mystery box challenge. To win the immunity from Sunday’s elimination, one of them have to give their best again.

If there’s one word to describe season 13, I would say it has been astonishing so far. In every episode, there’s some twist or a tough challenge for the contestants. Hence, the immunity challenge this week also wasn’t easy. But it was fun overall.

MasterChef Australia Season 13 Episode 14’s immunity challenge was called the ‘Hidden Pairs Immunity Challenge’. On a table, there were several ingredients, and some of them were covered by a cloche. Contestants will get a chance to select one ingredient. Then, the judges will give them the second one from the cloche right behind the selected ingredient.

Andy Allen was not present for this challenge, but Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo added the required punch and excitement throughout the competition. Depinder chose mangoes, and judges gave her chilli; Kishwar selected mint, which she has to pair with beetroot. Therese chose corn and got blue cheese, Conor got coffee and cherries, and Dan got figs and liquorice.

With these odd pairs, the contestants have to cook mouthwatering dishes in 75 minutes. The contestants who cook the best dish gets immunity from the upcoming elimination. Depinder and Kishwar are happy with their ingredients pair. The ladies cook mango chilli fried chicken and middle eastern feast, respectively.

Therese decides to make a blue cheese ice cream sandwich. The judges warn her how dessert king Reynold tried to make it during his season and miserably fail. But she decides to go on. Conor makes a coffee and cherries dessert. Dan hates licorice but eventually decides to make panna cotta.

Melissa and Jock are blown away with Depinder’s mango chilli fried chicken. Therese delivers a wonderful dish and gets appreciated for going with her guts. Despite hating licorice, Dan makes a delicate and delicious panna cotta. Sadly, Kishwar and Conor fail to deliver their best.

Next, Jock taught the contestants of using the hibachi grill in different ways and made his eucalyptus smoked mashed potato.
