Mashle Season 2 Episode 2 Review and Recap – A Heartfelt Request
This episode starts with the headmaster Mr Wahlberg coming in front of the divine visionaries and practically begging them not to do anything with Mash. We also get to know about him a bit more in detail. Apparently, in his younger days, he used to be the only person who could go toe to toe against Innocent Zero, the main villain of the series. And because of this reason, almost all the divine visionaries respect him, calling him a living legend.

So when a person of this status starts to kneel in front of the divine visionaries to save one kid without any power, they understand just how a special Mash is. But that still did not stop Orter from denying Mr Wahlberg’s request. According to him, and other visionaries, this sort of leniency is not possible, as it is against the natural order.
Thankfully, they do give in, at the end and put two conditions in front of Mash. And only if he could complete those will he not be executed anymore. These conditions include that Mash will have to act under the supervision of divine visionaries as a pawn against the evil organization Innocent Zero. Other than that, Mash will have to prove that he’s strong enough to fight the Innocent Zero by becoming a divine visionary candidate in the upcoming exam.
The first half of the episode was not that engaging and it felt pretty average. Even the part where Mash and his friends go out to have some fun did not manage to be as humorous as the makers intended. But from the second part, the pace picks up, and things become more interesting with the entry of a new challenge in the form of Margaret Macaron, the Orca dorm prefect.

He gets an order or rather a tip from Orter that Mash is someone, who managed to defeat Abel without using any magic. This made Margaret more interested in Mash, and now he too wishes to see this miracle outcome firsthand.
Verdict
Today’s episode was decent, and the overall pace of the anime also felt a bit slow. I believe this is because it is the calm before the storm, as the next episode promises to be more intense.
The fight between Margaret and Aymes is something I really look forward to. Other than that, the jokes of this episode also did not land that well, at least in the first half of the episode. But yes, it gets better in the second half.
