Mammals Trailer has been released by Amazon Prime Video, unveiling the British TV host and comedian in a leading role. This dark comedy series is written by two-time Olivier and Tony Award winner Jez Butterworth, directed by Stephanie Laing (Physical) and produced by Street Hassle, in association with Vertigo Films and Fulwell 73.
It will be a six-part series, starring James Corden, Sally Hawkins, Colin Morgan, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Melia Kreiling, Isla Gie, Cécile Fisera, Umulisa Gahiga, Sam Shoubber, Pippa Duffy, Liam Edwards, Bhavik C. Pankhania, Lauren Douglin, Tracy Green, Jason Lines, Robert G. Slade, Georgia Sidell, Samuel Anderson, Naoko Mori, Rasmus Hardiker and more.
The official synopsis of the series reads, “In this darkly comedic drama from writer, Jez Butterworth, revelations and secrets come to light and the complexity of modern marriage and fidelity are exposed. In a world of eight billion, what happens after we’ve found ‘the one’? Can we stay true to the promises we strive to keep when, after all, aren’t we all just Mammals?”

The series follows the story of Jamie, a Michelin star chef whose world implodes when he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife, Amandine. Jamie finds himself hunting for answers with the help of his brother-in-law Jeff. Through this hunt, the cracks in Jeff’s marriage to Jamie’s sister Lue, also widen. Jeff attempts to get through to Lue, but this only makes Lue descend deeper into a secret fantasy world.
Meanwhile, after a tragic loss, Amandine delves into her passion for violin but finds solace from an unlikely source. It is a comedy-drama about the complexities of marriage: there is sadness, grief, tension, love, friendship, betrayal, and a touch of magical realism.
When the consequences of all of their actions come to light, the revelations send shockwaves through both families. In this thrilling ride through the lies they hide in their relationships; secrets are revealed, and nothing is what it seems. In the trailer, we see the leads proclaiming that – If love is impossible, we must believe in the impossible. We must believe in magic.
It shows the ups and downs of a relationship, where you feel like the happiest person in the whole world in one moment and in another, all the hopes shatter when you realise, your partner might not be on the same page as you. They might have led a very different life in the past and what would happen when the current spouse, comes face to face with all that?
