Maaeri Review
Maaeri brings the story of a mother, Tara Deshpande (Sai Deodhar), who sets on a thrilling, life-threatening journey to get justice for her daughter who has been sexually assaulted. Braving her way through failures and contempt from her own family, she is not ready to give up on fighting for justice, irrespective of what she has to do.
The plot captures viewers’ eyes right from the start, the sensitive relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter is bumpy yet filled with love. While these scenes are undeniably relatable, they pull you into the plot in a way that makes you picture yourself in these scenes. But when things take a turn for the worse, you can feel the fear of the mother and her daughter hitting you right on point because you’ve already taken yourself into these roles.
The intensity of the plot soon changes and you find yourself on an emotional rollercoaster because what we see is a very realistic output to such situations. The reaction of the victim and her father is the real reaction of families who go through these incidents while the mother’s will to fight is what takes us back to the fictional world. This is where the story really begins as we see the transformation of a mother who is unwilling to let go of the perpetrators.

While the plot is captivating, it is the performance put together by every actor on the show that really has us engrossed with the show. They all portray their characters in such a way that you are unable to look away from them. Their emotions and pain can be felt through the screen while their inner turmoil is clearly evident through their expressions. Sai Deodhar surely stands out as the protagonist of this show, but Tanvi Mundle and Sagar Deshmukh also have an aura that is hard to ignore. Their presence is hard to ignore and is just as intriguing and stunning as Sai Deodhar.
Moving on to the cinematography of the show, then I have to say that the way everything is so well captured is something we have to appreciate. Every scene is well created and captured so smoothly that you are left unable to look away from the screen. These scenes are all coloured in reflection of the emotions of the scenes taking you directly to the place.
Every bit of the show is beautifully captured and intriguing which will leave the viewers caught in a binge-watching session that is unexpected. This show is certainly unlike any other as it doesn’t bring a fantasy-like look to such incidents but will show you the most realistic response to these situations. This will anger you in many places, but once you have calmed you will also understand why many families respond in this way to sexual assault.
Summing Up

Overall, Maaeri is a gripping thriller that will take you on an intense journey as you see yourself go through some very strong emotions. The show stands out among many similar ones with its realistic grip on these incidents and will leave you stunned as the story progresses.
Watch Maaeri on Zee5.
