Lockwood and Co Trailer Breakdown: Ghosts, Bureaucracy and a Renegade Trio on the Case

Are you ready to slay some ghosts? Because the Lockwood and Co trailer breakdown is here. This show is based on the book series of the same name written by Jonathan Stroud and is directed by Joe Cornish. The show will consist of eight episodes and will star Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati, Ivanno Jeremiah, Luke Treadaway, and Morven Christie alongside other cast members.

The Netflix synopsis for this show reads, “In a world plagued by ghosts, three teens band together as paranormal investigators, risking what little they have to unravel a diabolical conspiracy.”

Like all detectives, ghost detectives also need help. This investigative startup, Lockwood and Co is looking for an intern and Lucy Carlyle is right there to help them out. She decides to go check them out when she comes across an advertisement for the same at the train station. Carlyle is introduced to the founders Anthony Lockwood and George Karim who are both the only members of Lockwood and Co right now.

The trio immediately get to work finding ghosts to fight with and kill. While the CGI is dodgy, it is perhaps the nature of the show for it to be like that. The ghosts are wildly reminiscent of the floating Axel-head in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, considering the Netflix budget it is probably a conscious choice to make them teeter over the uncanny valley.

We see Lockwood and Carlyle take out their weapons and get ready to engage with a ghost. These entities are shown to be extremely violent and volatile, ready to tear out human flesh unless warded away by weapons. Albeit, Lockwood and Carlyle’s first adventure ended with them committing arson while solving the ghost infestation.

Police and other regulatory bodies dealing with ghosts are dismissive of Lockwood and Co, preferring to gatekeep this job for the true ‘professionals.’ According to Lockwood, the big agencies that take care of these incidences only like to believe that they have things going their way, but things have been getting worse in the country.

Trying to build up their reputation, Lockwood assures them that if they get a few good cases, things will be set for them. Even Carlyle reassures her friend that if they are able to solve this case, they would become the most famous agents in the country. The next shot involves Carlyle doing some impressive stunts, showcasing her physical expertise when it comes to fighting.

The next few shots show George, Lucy and Anthony all working together to fight some bureaucratic agents and some ghosts. They also managed to unlock something from a grave and now continue to fight and cause chaos in the London supernatural network. The trailer shows us how the trio have been caught in something they have no idea how serious it is.

Police officers warn them that they are in way over their heads and even though Lockwood and Co accept their hubris, they would rather not be a slave to a system that would inhibit them. They realise then they have come up against an insurmountable threat. As Carlyle notifies them, every ghost in London is out to kill them.

They acquire some kind of oracle that tells them that power cannot be buried and Lockwood is assured that they have to fight against the ghosts because it is a kill-or-be-killed world they live in. Making things simpler, the oracle also lets them know that, “Death is coming,” warning them of a specific evil ready to consume London.

The trailer ends with some positive platitudes by Anthony Lockwood reassuring the team that Lockwood and Co will remain together and that they have a family at the end of all of this. Finally, the trailer ends with a fight sequence showing us Lockwood and a montage of shots culminating towards a climactic end by the season finale.
