Live to Lead is a Netflix documentary series released on December 31, 2022. Directed by Geoff Blackwell, the docuseries is presented by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex; they are also the executive producers. The seven-part series features interviews with world leaders and activists who have changed the world with their ideals and actions.
The idea behind the series is inspired by Nelson Mandella’s values and continued efforts to fight for humanity. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg, Bryan Stevenson, Jacinda Ardern, Siya Kolisi, Gloria Steinem, and Albie Sachs are picked by Prince Harry, Meghan and their co-producers. Each of them shares their life experiences in a 30-minute episode.
The official Netflix description of the docuseries reads as:
Leaders committed to making a difference in the world share their inspiring life stories in this series executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan.
-Live to Lead Review Contains No Spoilers-
I was instantly invested when the first episode started with Ruth Bader Ginsburg speaking about her struggles and hardships. It is one of the last interviews that the Former Associate Justice did before she passed away on September 18, 2020. Until her last days, she spread the word about equality and social justice, which is bound to make one rethink their own life choices. Beyond her struggles, we also get to witness a daughter, a wife, a mother and most of all, a woman who was only looking for her place in a world dominated by men.
The next episode features Greta Thunberg, a young girl who shook the world with her Friday school strikes outside Swedish Parliament for climate change. The episode was thought-provoking and a fair warning of how humanity is on the brink of extinction. The third episode is followed by featuring Bryan Stevenson, who dedicated his life to fighting against racism and for the wrongly imprisoned. The stories shared by the lawyer were excruciatingly painful to hear.

The youngest female head of government, Jacinda Ardern, appears in the fourth episode to share her experience as New Zealand’s third female prime minister. She also briefly spoke about her journey of motherhood while in the office. Siya Kolisi, captain of the South African rugby national team, who led them to win the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final against England, appears in the next episode. American journalist and social-political activist Gloria Steinem appeared in the sixth episode. She spoke about the discrimination she faced at the start of her career, but she broke down every barrier to speak the truth.
Albie Sachs, who worked tirelessly to abolish apartheid in South Africa, is featured in the last episode. An assassination attempt was made on him in 1988, and he lost a limb in that incident. However, he said he held no grudge against the man who committed the crime. His shared experiences were moving to say the least, and his words will live with one for days.

Live to Lead: Final Thoughts
The stories the activists and leaders shared were persuasive, encouraging and powerful. Providing each of them a platform to speak about their thoughts and actions is what society needs now. A push for change and making everyone understand the urgency for quick action.
However, one will not learn anything new from the series. The stories and experiences shared are one google click away. The episodes were made up of a bunch of known facts; they lacked depth. It felt like an introductory segment of the featured guests put together in a 30-minute episode, which is too little to understand them truly.
Nevertheless, it will be a learning experience for many, but it is suggested to keep one’s expectations managed.

Live to Lead is now streaming on Netflix.

Very impactful, informative… enjoyed it. So much I did not know about those people and they contribution. Would not have independently research these individuals, know their gift to us all if it weren’t for this Docuseries.
Thanks Harry Meghan and all who participated in sharing
I thoroughly enjoyed these series. I have heard of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but I did not know about the challenges she faced as a woman and mother on her up and coming career. I have learnt so much about the women on the series and they have certainly inspired me to want more for myself. Bravo, a must watch. More series is needed like this because I think the young generation is lost and do know understand what women like RBG had to sacrifice … what a woman.
Very motivating, good to be reminded that one person can make a difference, it requires courage to go against societal norms- apartheid- an inherent racist ‘justice’ system, Thank you Prince Harry&Meghan
My life will never be the same after watching such grâce selfishness loving kindness….I was moved to tears by the sacrifices…Harry & Meghan never stop doing such brilliant work…????????????

My life will never be the same after watching such grâce ,selfishness &loving kindness….I was moved to tears by the sacrifices…Harry & Meghan never stop doing such brilliant work…????????????
I enjoyed and learned for this Setimes. The information was very motivational to me…to do more…with my life.
God Bless Harry and Meghan…I give it a “5.” It was informational and motivational, tastefully covering…delightful, gruesome topics and eras.
As South African I am disgusted. Two people that have no leaders qualities are trying to cash on Madiba.
I was familiar with all but two of the subjects and appreciated the awareness of those two.
Yes, there wasn’t much new to be learned here but that also didn’t appear to be the obective of the documentary..
What struck me, and I watched all 8 consecutively, was the similarity of the strength of their passions; Eight well known,
enormously accomplished people from different parts of the world with a common drive for community, humbleness, inclusivity and most iimportantly TRUTH!!
So very much to learn here and belongs in ALL student classrooms – regardless of subject matter of the
class. ESPECIALLY AMERICAN SCHOOLS!!
i hope this runs for a long time, in many different venues. THAN YOU to all who produced this incentivizing and educational
documentary.
This was my first time hearing of two of the individuals in the documentary I knew the CB names of the young girl but didn’t know how she began her journey. It was well done. I think everyone shoukd see it and it shoukd be included in middle school and high school classes.
I thought this docuseries was inspiring, thoughtful and motivating. Sometimes, as an environmental activist,, I feel like giving up the fight, because so few people (including government agencies and corporations) do not seem to care about the environment or are willing to change their ways to help save the planet. But after seeing Harry & Meghan’s, Live to Lead, I told myself that I cannot give up the good fight. That to accomplish your goals, you have to keep at things, not give up, and to have patience (lots of patience) to achieve change in the world. I agree with one of the other commenters that said this docuseries shows that one person can make a difference in the world. Each of us has the power to instigate change or influence others in a positive way, but we have to be willing to persevere in the face of opposition and believe that we can make a difference, even if it happens at a snail’s pace, which is often the case. Notice the time it took RGB, Greta, Bryan and the others to achieve their goals and influence changes in the world. I’m sure they, at times, felt like throwing in the towel, too, but they didn’t!
As a South African, I’m offended by the blatant grifting off his name and legacy.
I hope these interviews serve as an entry point for young people who aren’t familiar with these inspiring people, so they are motivated to google more about them. This series was a nice bite sized way to capture the attention of the younger demographic who perhaps would not sit through a more serious approach to these stories. The interviews were completed by the Nelson Mandela Foundation long before Harry and Megan’s names were attached to the project though so the only thing I don’t like is their forced association with the interviewees to help paint themselves in a better light and continue to pursue their need for fame without accomplishment which is the opposite of these interviewees.
Meagan has led a pointless life. She keeps talking but has nothing to stay. All media, industries and superstars need to avoid Harry and Meagan as they both will lead to the downfall of ANYONE who doesn’t comply with Harry’s dangerous and narcissistic devil wife Meagan. Sickening, disrespectful , lazy, good digger witch. Meagan will get Harry or William killed. Boycott ALL projects Meagan is associated with. I am canceling Netflix , Oprah and T. Perry. Meagan will bring them down with her away.
