Kowloon Generic Romance Episode 2 Recap
Episode two kicks off with Kujirai reflecting on a mysterious photo she noticed on her coworker’s desk. Shortly after, she receives a call from a friend complaining about the constant noise in one of the Kowloon Walled City apartments. Since Kujirai manages the building, she decides to investigate and ends up meeting an intriguing woman named Yaomay.
As the episode unfolds, the world starts to make a little more sense. It seems Kujirai may have undergone a memory reset, effectively turning her into someone different from who she once was. Previously, she was two years older than Kudo and shared a romantic past with him. But now, she remains the same age while he has grown older, flipping their age dynamic. From the glimpses we get, it’s clear that Kudo deeply cared for her past self, so much so that many of his current behaviours appear to be inspired by her.

Yet, their situation isn’t so straightforward. If Kujirai really is the same person Kudo was once engaged to, why is he keeping that fact hidden? Moreover, there are subtle physical differences between the Kujirai of today and the woman in Kudo’s memories, like the absence of pierced ears. Despite the ambiguity, one thing is clear: their shared past wasn’t entirely joyful for Kudo, who seems burdened by painful memories.
Meanwhile, an air of mystery continues to loom, especially with the strange triangular object hovering in the sky. And by the episode’s end, we’re introduced to an eccentric doctor who might hold some answers about Kujirai’s unusual condition.
Kowloon Generic Romance Episode 3 Review

Today’s episode again starts with a past memory of Kudo living with the previous Kujirai. Here, we see how she invited him to her house for the first time, and Kudo slowly falls in love with her and her idea of nostalgia surrounding Kowloon City. Kudo is very much still in love with his past lover, and that is apparent. However, this doesn’t make him stop being jealous of the current Kujirai as well.
When the very weird doctor Hebinuma comes to Kudo’s office, he is not happy with the fact that a suspicious man like him already knows about Kujirai. Not only that, but, when Hebinuma creepily kisses Kujirai out of nowhere, Kudo is absolutely pissed. It is still a mystery why Hebinuma did something like that, but one thing is certain: he knows about the mysterious past of Kujirai.

In this episode, we again see how Kudo lives on a similar day when he returns to Kujirai’s house and remembers the first time he came here. However, even the new Kujirai recognises how Kudo has been constantly remembering a different Kujirai through her. This pains her heart, but she has no other way than to be in the dark.
There is something definitely going on with the residents of Kowloon City, as things are very fishy here. But perhaps the most shocking aspect was that Doctor Hebinuma is actually the lover of the waiter, Gwen, whom Kudo has been searching for.
Verdict

I again liked this episode, but I am still pretty confused about the whole plot. What is the point of this mystery, and what actually happened to Kujirai in the past is something that we must find out soon. Towards the end, the confrontation between Kudo and Kujirai was really good.
