Kaiju No 8 Episode 7 Recap

Kaiju No 8 Episode 8 Review Hoshina Reminds Of Levi

The episode starts with the humanoid Kaiju confronting Reno and Iharu. Without hesitation, the Kaiju drops its human disguise and attacks the soldiers, aiming to capture human samples. Despite their attempts to assess the situation quickly, Reno and Iharu find themselves outmatched and are brutally shot. They soon realize the severity of their predicament. Reno tries to contact Captain Hoshina but discovers that Kaiju has blocked all communication, showcasing its rapid learning and adaptability. Throughout the fight, the Kaiju keenly observes and understands humans to improve its killing methods.

Initially, Reno urges Iharu to escape and call for reinforcements, but Iharu refuses to abandon his friend. This moment reveals Iharu’s growing admiration for Reno’s bravery, seeing potential in him to become a captain. Determined to protect Reno, Iharu fights alongside him with renewed determination and strategy. However, their injuries from the previous attacks make the battle challenging.

The episode is intense and suspenseful, leaving us anxious about the fate of our favorite characters. As expected, Kafka eventually arrives heroically, and his entrance is a memorable one.

Kaiju No 8 Episode 8 Review And Recap

Today’s episode was really really good as we saw some interesting developments and exciting characters. The episode starts with Hoshina going full Levi mode on Kafka in his Kaiju No 8. He is a beast with his swords, and it is apparent that he is one of the strongest characters in this anime. Even though his strength might not be as great as Captain Mina’s, there is no way any normal Kaiju can evade him.

However, our protagonist is not a normal Kaiju, nor does he have any intention to kill his captain. This is why their confrontation was very unique, and Kafka even made Hoshina suspicious of Kaiju No 8. Another interesting thing that we witness in this episode is how much Kafka has become a part of the Defence Force without being a regular member. He is loved by everyone and cared for especially Kikoru, who vehemently denies this.

We also got to know more about another character from this anime namely, Haruichi Izumo. Previously, he seemed like a normal character but, apparently, he is the heir of the famous Izumo tech. It is the company that is the biggest Anti-Kaiju Weapon Manufacturer company in Japan and responsible for providing most of the arsenal used by the Defence Force. His family is even richer than Kikoru’s.

The aftermath of the battle also seemed to relax the members of the third division, who enjoyed a brief moment of breather by celebrating their first win with a big feast. Here, more laughter and healthy banter ensues, followed by a very important declaration that you should witness yourself.

The ending, however, completely changed the mood of the episode and made me doubly excited about what’s to come in the next episode. We might be nearing the final arc of the first season of this anime.

Verdict

I loved this episode and liked the lighthearted tone in the middle. What I especially preferred is how the episode began on a high note and then ended on a high note, as this left me on the edge in anticipation of next week. If you still have not watched this anime, do it right away, it is hands down one of the best shows of this season.
