Junji Ito Maniac Japanese Tales of the Macabre (伊藤潤二『マニアック) is an upcoming anthology animated series that will be premiering on Netflix. The anime will consist of hand-picked stories from the works of Junji Ito. Twenty different horrifying tales of terror will be included in the upcoming series.
Shinobu Tagashira directs the show, and Junji Ito and Kaoru Sawada are credited as the writers. The animation hails from Studio Deen, and Yuki Hayashi gives the music.

An ensemble of various voice actors will be appearing in the new series. From the mind of horror manga maestro Junji Ito comes a spine-tingling selection of some of his most bizarre, disturbing and terrifying tales.

The anime will consist of a total of twenty stories from the author’s manga. Each series will showcase a disturbing character and plot revolving around it. The Story of the Mysterious Tunnel, Mold, Layers of Fear, The Thing That Drifted Ashore, and Back Alley are included in the line-up.
Popular fan-favourite characters will also be appearing in the latest animated series. Tomie, Souichi, and Kubitsuri Kikyuu will be seeing the light of day. One of the most complex characters, Tomie, who has a knack for refusing to stay dead, is most anticipated by the fans. Popular title, The Hanging Balloons, which deals with sensitive subjects like suicide, is also included.
The trailer provides a brief overview of what to expect from the series. Various unique characters and thought-provoking plots are guaranteed addition to the new show. The animation style mainly remains 2D and does not stray away from the original artwork in the graphic novel.
