Infamy Ending Explained: Netflix’s Polish series Infamia stars Zofia Jastrzębska as Gita, Kamil Piotrowski as Tagar, Magdalena Czerwińska as Viola, Sebastian Lach as Marko, Artur Dziurman as Stefan, Josef Feco as Janko, Branko Djuric – Djuro as Josef and others. It is directed by Anna Maliszewska and Kuba Czekaj, and the story is penned by Dana Łukasińska and Julita Olszewska.

There are a total of 8 episodes in the Infamy series on Netflix. The Polish drama has subtitles in English. It’s a show about a girl named Gita who goes back to her town in Poland with her family. Gita, a Romani girl, learns about her culture, the good and bad side and has to face many challenges. Gita’s family wants to marry her to a Czech man named Janko to clear her father, Marko, of his debt. In the eight episodes, we see Gita face many difficulties as she tries to chase her dreams of becoming a rapper and love.

In the last episode of the Netflix show Infamy, Gita goes bald and sends her picture to Janko. Despite her baldness, Janko wants to marry her and keeps telling her he loves her. However, Gita ignores his calls and messages. Marko goes to Janko to tell him that Gita doesn’t want to marry him. It is hinted that Janko’s father might kill Marko for betraying him and failing to clear the debt.

Thankfully, Janko stops his father from shooting Marko. He tells them that he loves Gita and would marry her, even with no hair on her head. Marko is relieved to hear that Janko still wants to marry his daughter. He tells them that if Gita is also ready to marry Janko, he will not stop them. So Marko doesn’t die and informs his wife Viola everything.

On the other hand, Gita films her first official rap video using the sound mixing done by Tagar before his death. She rejects Janko again, leaves her family house and starts living with her friend Eliza. Eliza exposes her boyfriend Mikolaj for his racist rants on social media groups. She threatens to file a complaint for having sex with a minor if she leaks her video online. She ends the relationship with him.

When Gita’s rap video was released, it got a tremendous response. Her family members watch the video together and are happy to see her rap. However, they all get shocked when Gita lifts her t-shirt in the music videos and shows her breasts. They disown Gita and ask her parents to leave the house with their kids.

At the end of Infamy Episode 8, Marko’s brother tells him he can stay with Viola and other kids without Gita. He asks him to choose family (them) and not “infamy” (shame due to Gita). Marko says he chooses family and leaves with his wife and other kids in the car. The episode ends with Gita reuniting with her parents and her parents also keeping the door and hearts open for their elder daughter Melissa, who married a non-Romani man.

So, in the end, Gita fulfilled her dream of becoming a rapper and lived happily with her parents. Janko was completely heartbroken by the rejection. Gita also tells her grandmother through the doorbell camera that even if they disown her, she’s still one of them. She has the Roman and her family’s blood, and that’s the truth.

The series is now streaming on Netflix.
